Powered concrete and grass caravan site

Liked The owner is friendly and makes sure everything is alright with you lovely lady to chat to. Site very well maintained. Lovely views with the sheep in the field and watching the collies with the sheep. Lovely walks from site and one where there is a stream which the dogs loved as it was hot weather this was accessed from the top of the site through the woods. Plenty of interesting places to visit which we did at the weekend as my husband was gliding at Sutton Bank so the fortnight we were there was taken up that. Lovely hearing the birds and owls at night. Even saw a hedgehog on the site. Can highly recommend this site. Wifi was better some days than others.

From the manager: Thankyou for your fantastic review.I really appreciate you taking the time to write it. The owls have been particularly active just lately ,I expect they are searching for food as they have some chicks very close to the site in the trees near the cliffs. I do have some "hedge hog" houses as I absolutely love them.Hopefully they will also breed and stay around.
thanks again Jayne

Powered concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Nice size pitches nice and clean there is only 7/8 pitches on site so nice and friendly I would say more for the older travellers not really a lot to do for kids but we did enjoy the stay good WiFi reception we would not go back but only because there's not much for the kids to do

Disliked Nothing

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thankyou for your review. I'm sorry there is not too much for the kids apart from playing in the wood and the shallow beck if weather is good. With me only being a very small site I don't really have playground facilities. There are playground facilities in Kirkbymoorside but you obviously have to leave the site to use them.I hope it didn't spoil your holiday too much.

Liked I have stayed before & always found Jayne welcoming. Being on my own this time it was useful to know all the walks around the area. Jayne left a list of them on every pitch next to the electric meter. Loved getting up in the morning seeing the sheep in the field. I found it useful to catch the buses into Pickering, Scarborough & Helmsley; worth a visit. Will definitely come again when visiting the area.

Local attractions

Here, old railways, abbeys, museums and forest trails could all be part of your holiday schedule. Pickering (10 minutes’ drive) is your gateway for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to Whitby (the location of the abbey that inspired Dracula) and Goathland (a village in the moors with a heritage station). If it’s history that gets you excited, then there are more historical sites scattered around: Rievaulx Abbey (15 minutes), a ruined Cistercian abbey, Ampleforth Abbey (20 minutes), a Benedictine abbey, or Castle Howard (20 minutes), a historical estate with playgrounds and huge grounds. For museums, there’s the Eden Camp Modern History Theme Museum (20 minutes) and The World of James Herriot (half an hour). If it’s wildlife you’re after instead, visit the National Centre for Birds of Prey (15 minutes) or Flamingo Land (15 minutes), a zoo crossed with a theme park. And for the active days, perhaps the bike trails and Go Ape park in Dalby Forest (35 minutes), watersports in Scarborough (40 minutes) or sightseeing in York (50 minutes)?
