Its rural location on the edge of a Suffolk conservation area ensures visitors to Polstead Country Park have plenty to do during their stay. The pretty village of Polstead is five minutes’ drive away, and walkers have access to a network of footpaths from there, taking in ancient woodland scattered with bluebells in spring, while overnighting cyclists can pick on the South Suffolk Cycle Route with a 10-minute ride from the park. If you've brought the car, your options widen even further – animal parks, stately homes and beaches are all within half an hour’s drive. Landscaped with flowers, neat hedges and shady mature trees, the pitches at this adults-only site are generously sized and immaculately maintained. Spotless modern facilities include shower facilities with underfloor heating and a dedicated accessible bathroom, while washing-up sinks and a laundry area make it easy to keep everyone and everything looking shipshape. The friendly staff at reception can let you have all sorts of information on the local area and places to visit, and there’s also a small site shop stocked with essentials. If you fancy a break from cooking, there’s a foodie pub within five minutes’ walk and other options in Polstead village.

Liked Site very clean and pitches private with hedges , toilets and showers clean,
We spoke to the manager as we had just bought this motorhome about awnings for it and site rules , he was very helpful on advice.
We will be going back without a doubt.

Disliked Only advice shower early as at 9am it gets a bit busy so might have to wait there is 3 showers in men's one was out of order so might have been reason for waiting.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked A very clean camping with very kind people. I liked the place.
And a nice pub nearby where you can have a proper meal with a beer.

Disliked I needed to charge my phone. I stayed in my own tent and looked for a wall plug in the toilet room, but there wasn’t one. Maybe an easy thing to arrange for customers?

Only a 10 min walk to the Brewers arms. Lovely food too.

Liked We have been to this Adult Only site before and love it.
The tranquility and wonderful hosts make it very special.
The washroom facilities are roomy, clean and modern. Looking forward to returning.

Disliked My only personal criticism is the Shower. The press button for about 8 seconds of water each time and is a bit of a nuisance, and the temperature of the really hot water made my ablusions a bit disappointing. I like a tepid shower, especially when washing my hair. 8Also there needs to be more air extraction as it becomes very humid. A nicer aroma would improve the toilets. Only my opinion!

Liked Staff were friendly and facilities were ok. It was pretty quiet during the day but you can hear the local A road. Evening was quiet and the 1030pm curfew on noise was followed by all. The area is nice to explore. Lavenham and Polstead itself.

Disliked Our tiny pitch. I’ve never had such a tight pitch (no5) and it backed up to the washing up room so you got to hear pots and pans being washed after everyone’s dinners. There’s a lot of really small pitches and it was a squeeze to get the caravan, awning and our car on our plot. I’d say if you stay here do you research and choose your plot wisely. Some pitches are massive. There’s no consistency.

Liked Nice and clean site with plenty of room for a VW camper and awning. Nice privacy with hedging between plots.

We were plot 34, which is next to a horse field. We both found it amusing listening to horse grunts etc early in the morning.

I’m sure we will be back as the weather wasn’t the best for our visit.

Didn’t use the WiFi.

Disliked Nothing, had no issues.

Pretty Suffolk villages to explore include Kersey (five minutes’ drive) with its half-timbered houses and thatched cottages, while Lavenham (20 minutes) has a stunning guildhall and fine 14th-century church. For a bit of a date night, Ipswich (25 minutes) has lots of bars and restaurants along its lively waterfront, as well as a theatre and cinema. There are pretty country yomps along the River Stour to Flatford Mill (25 minutes) and Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (20 minutes) in Constable Country. You can see another artist’s house on the walking trail from National Trust-owned Melford Hall (20 minutes) to Sudbury (15 minutes), which takes in three old water mills and Thomas Gainsborough’s house en route. Looking for animal encounters on your rural break? Feed lambs (in season), groom horses and cuddle up to friendly donkeys at Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm, or get up close to the reptiles, creepy crawlies and butterflies at Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park (both half an hour). Or how about touring a couple of local vineyards? Giffords Hall (half an hour) and Burnt House (45 minutes) are both open for tours and tastings – it’s best to book in advance.
