Gumburn Leisure Park: Quiet and peaceful stay

General

  • Small adults-only site on a Worcestershire working farm
  • A 15-minute drive to Worcester; 25 minutes to the Malvern Hills
  • Dog-friendly park with fishing pools on site

If your dog needs a break as much as you do, then Gumburn Leisure Park could well be the place to make that happen. This Worcestershire site doesn’t accept kids, but the team are more than happy to welcome four-legged family members, who can have a good stretch at the safe dog-walking area and have a good cleanup using the outside tap if needed.

This is a small site, with only a handful of pitches, so it’s a very peaceful setup. Its small stature doesn’t mean a lack of facilities, however: guests have access to showers, toilets, a washing-up area and waste disposal, plus a kettle and toaster for easy breakfasts (and sometimes you’ll also find the owners popping round with fresh free-range eggs to boost your brekkie even more…)

The site’s grass pitches are within the grounds of a 75-acre family-run sheep farm, where you can sit and gaze out over the farmland or settle in for some time by the fishing pools. There are lots of quiet roads and paths to roam along nearby, and it’s about a 25-minute drive to more trails in the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For a change of scenery, take the 25-minute drive to Worcester for shops, restaurants and a visit to the cathedral.

For eats closer to home, there’s a fish and chip van in the neighbouring village every Saturday night, or you can take the 10-minute drive to Ombersley for restaurants and pubs (one of which has a Michelin star, no less…) If you’d rather stick to self catering, stock up at the local farm shops, butchers and veg shops, then light up a barbecue by your pitch.

Please note

Everything was really good. Many campsites we have been too have been difficult to find. The signposts left us in no doubt. On the morning we received an email with details of our stay and communication was very good. On arrival there was a welcome pack at our pitch. Toilets and shower were perfect. Nice motion detection lights help in the dark, we got a bit spooked at night as we were only ones there and the light came on, we soon discovered it was a cat. Would definitely go back.

Site itself is very quiet and tucked away - still easy to get to though.
All needs catered for with toilet/showers etc. It is a working farm although I only saw some horses.

    Disliked:

It seemed to be common with all the local land owners to hide the Public Footpaths which included this campsite - There was no evidence of a footpath that should go through the farm to the lakes - only No entry signs - fishing only

Like all things, even the greatest of sites can be let down by neighbours and the weekend stay was spoilt by free roaming dogs and a very noisy Aircon unit from next door - The only site related element is that had a daily site walk taken place, then the Dogs would have been evident.

PS: For those Dog Lovers who may respond - I had a dog with me who was well behaved but did bark every time the dogs came onto our pitch
