General
- Peaceful countryside site set amid 200 acres of paddocks and woodland
- Five minutes' drive to Moreton-in-Marsh; 30 to Stratford-upon-Avon
- Firepits, den-building and an eco-friendly leave-no-trace ethos
‘Leave no trace’ is the motto at Wolford Wood, and once you set eyes on this scenic park among 200 acres of lush paddocks and leafy greenery, you’re sure to have no problem wanting to do your bit to protect the local landscape…
This Site of Special Scientific Interest, home to a rare English deciduous woodland and 2,500 different species of flowers, fungi and fauna, is a blissful spot just under a mile from the meeting point of Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.
While the setting on the edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is excellent for explores, staying local and wandering the woodland is also a firm favourite of guests, whether they spend their time making dens with the kids, chatting with friends next to one of the firepits (logs are available at the park) or just getting lost on pretty paths. The site also hosts regular events and activities for kids and grownups (open to day visitors and guests, for an extra charge) so have a chat to see what's on while you're here.
During ambles, bring a picnic along made up of bits and bobs from the deli in Moreton-in-Marsh; you can also stoke up the barbecue back on site (as long as it’s off the ground) if you’re craving grilled grub. Burn off the calories later at the gym and pool in the Fire Service College (a five-minute drive).
Please note that there’s no parking next to pitches here, but a car park is available. Guests are also asked to take their rubbish home with them where possible (although you can leave sorted bags of rubbish on site for an extra charge) and no single-use plastic is to be brought into the woods. If you’re doing your bit for the environment by travelling on public transport, the site can organise pickups from Moreton-in-Marsh’s train station.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, I'm sorry we fell short of your expectations. We do have a new shower/toilet block being built but only our compost toilets and open air hot showers are advertised. Our friendly staff would love to welcome you back to properly explore the wood if you decided to visit once our upgraded facilities are up and running. Best wishes, |

Lovely place, plenty of space hope the new toilets are better!

Hi Alex, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we're happy that you enjoyed your stay and would like to visit again. Unfortunately some guests do not read the notes on how to use the composting toilets and put tissue in the funnels rather than behind which causes them to block. We are a couple of weeks away from our new running water shower and toilet block being completed so would love to welcome you back to try out our new and improved facilities! Best wishes, |

Hi Anna, Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to write a review. It was lovely meeting your family. I'm so glad our site ticked all the boxes for you and despite it being a quiet weekend, it was great that your son made a little friend. There are so many places to visit in the surrounding area, it would be fantastic to have you all stay again. Best wishes, |

Local attractions
The tiny towns of Moreton-in-Marsh (five minutes’ drive) in the Evenlode valley and Stow-on-the-Wold (10 minutes) are well worth a wander during your visit to the Cotswolds. If you’re in the former settlement on a Tuesday, don’t miss the market; the latter spot, meanwhile, has a selection of antique shops open most of the week and a church known for its striking stained-glass windows.
Also close by are the famed gardens of Sezincote (10 minutes), while the gorgeous grounds of Kiftsgate Court and Hidcote Manor are a touch further away (25 minutes). See more brill botanicals at the Batsford Arboretum, then learn all about birds of prey in the nearby Cotswold Falconry Centre (both 10 minutes).
If you're after historical hotspots, set off for Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon (half an hour), or visit one of the best medieval buildings in England, the enormous Warwick Castle (35 minutes).
