Lake and pitches
Hardstanding touring pitch

  • Fully serviced pitches with access to paid fishing lakes
  • Around 30 minutes’ drive from Warwick, Birmingham and Leicester
  • Café, wheelchair accessible facilities, parent and baby washroom
Would waking up and walking just a few feet for a spot of fishing be something of a holiday win for you? And how about finding that around 30 minutes by car from Warwick, Birmingham and Leicester? At Makins Lakes, in the village of Bramcote and 10 minutes’ drive from the Warwickshire town of Nuneaton, your pitch won’t just be close to a peaceful peg, you’ll also have a long list of Heart of England holiday highlights close by. Of course, the lakes on site aren’t just for the enjoyment of anglers. Being by the water brings a peaceful feel to all the pitches. There are views over the Warwickshire countryside too, but this isn’t a middle-of-nowhere kind of place. Each pitch is hooked up with electric and water access points. The shower and toilet block have accessible areas for disabled guests and there’s also a family-friendly parent and baby washroom. There’s an on-site café and bait shop and if you can’t bear to leave the lakeside, they’ll even deliver food out to you so you need not stop fishing all day. When you’re ready to rest your rod for a bit, it’s a 25-minute drive to catch a bit of culture in Coventry (UK City of Culture 2021) or 40 minutes to Stratford-upon-Avon, the must-see town for all things Shakespeare.

What customers say

Great pitches, super clean, and friendly staff. Lovely fishing lakes and top value. Showers/toilets modern and warm. Cafe and shop are a hit. Occasional motorway noise and busy-period loos can be a bit iffy.

Liked View of the lakes.

Disliked No one to meet us. Didn’t see a member of staff in 4 days. Arrived 31/12 left 3/1. I suggest don’t open park new year if all amenities are closed. Shower block desperately needs a refit. Electric hook ups exposed to elements.

Liked Nice lakes and walks nearby. Toilets were reasonable and warm in the winter. The pitches were well laid out and generally flat.

Disliked The site was generally run down with little sign of good site management, which is a shame because correctly managed it could be a lovely site. Large potholes even though they had piles of hardcore material that could be used to fill them. The electrical hookups were mostly not working and in very poor or dangerous condition. The site should be shutdown whilst repairs are made. Live wires are literally exposed, whilst children run around playing and uneducated adults attempt to hookup their power leads to find a pitch that actually has power. I witnessed this on a daily basis, people setting up and then having to move to another pitch to find power. When we enquired about the problems we were told that the management team were on holiday and the site was closed, but they were taking bookings and people turning up daily to encounter the same issues. Regardless of any excuses, the exposed wiring could lead to a fatality.

Liked Show/toilets fantastic. Best shower I've been in on a campsite how can any one moan about them? Laura was fantastic messaging us before we arrived and responding when we asked if we could overstay in the morning by a hour and half. Absolutely no problem. Don't read and believe all reviews, will come again when we are in the area!

Disliked Nothing, yes your close to the m69 but that's for your convenience!

Liked Not a lot really yes there was access to toilet and warm water

Disliked Sadly the road into the site is absolutely awful and so many potholes, the women’s toilets wasn’t working and they switched it to the disabled toilets and they was in such bad condition and was dirty and cold the men’s toilets was also dirty, it’s a shame because they was no commutation from the site, if we’re paying for these things we should be communicated with as a base level but no one told us and it was in filthy condition wouldn’t not be visiting again

Liked Nothing

Disliked Orribile experience. We arrived there 1 hour ish before the deadline for arrival. Noone was at the reception. We have tried to call the number.. I tried 5 tomes for 2 hours but noone answered. I have texted them on WhatsApp and noone opened my messages. Is being 2 days and i still did not receive any response. We parked in a random spot to try to look for someone and explore the area to discover the lady toilet was closed, only the toilet for disable was open and was in a disgusting condition with the sink blocked and no warm water. We were with a child and we ended up sleeping with 2 °C, no shower and no electricity.

Local attractions

If you’re in the mood for a quiet picnic or woodland stroll, Coombe Abbey Country Park (15 minutes’ drive) is a 500-acre parkland made for whiling away a day outdoors. There’s also a play area, zip lining and climbing forest if the family’s up for an active day. Or you could always try out the angling here too if your break really is all about fishing. Entertaining the kids shouldn’t be too tricky around these parts either. Immerse yourself fully in the medieval world of dungeons, knights and princesses, jousting and falconry with a visit to Warwick Castle (35 minutes). Or scream if you wanna go faster at Drayton Manor Theme Park, home to rollercoasters, Thomas Land and a 15-acre zoo. Animal antics of all kinds are also order of the day at Twycross Zoo (30 minutes).
