  • Simple pitches at a peaceful Herefordshire working smallholding
  • Hereford 15 minutes' drive; five minutes to the Wye for fishing
  • Family-friendly site; kids can collect eggs and feed animals
Heading to Herefordshire in search of a slice of the simple life? You’ll certainly get that at Primrose Smallholding and Camping – guests here join the goats, sheep, chickens and other resident animals at a working smallholding in a lovely, peaceful setting near the little village of Holme Lacy. Book in at this family-friendly site and you’ll be staying in a three-acre field where guest numbers are capped to make sure everyone has plenty of space to pitch up and relax, and for kids to run about and play games in the open air. They’ll also be able to enjoy farm activities like collecting eggs or feeding the goats and sheep. Eggs are also available to buy for a taste of the farm with your breakfast or dinner. To cook up those meals, you’re welcome to bring along a barbecue or firepit (no open or ground fires, thanks, and please supervise children at all times). Facilities include an electric shower and two portable toilets that are thoroughly cleaned and deodorised regularly throughout the day, as well as a drinking-water tap in the field and a pots and pans washing-up area. Heading out and about, there are plenty of walks nearby (Haugh Wood, 10 minutes’ drive away is a favourite) and the River Wye is five minutes’ drive away for coarse fishing, canoeing or paddleboarding. And while this place feels very rural, it’s actually only a 15-minute drive to the centre of Hereford – head there by day to explore the historic city centre or ask on site about the subsidised taxi service for an evening out.

What customers say

A peaceful rural getaway with welcoming hosts. Enjoy spacious, private spots, farm animals and clean loos. While showers and a dishwashing area would be nice, the basic facilities are fine for the price. Highly recommended for its quietude and nature.

Terry B.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Beautiful site - rural and simple.
Friendly hosts. Lots of space and very reasonable rates.

Disliked Showers would be a bonus - but really not a problem that there are none. Also - this is made very clear when booking. So all good!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hello Terry, thank you very much for your review. Feedback is super important to us and we have listened! We now have a portable electric shower on site. We remain a simple pop up campsite but we hope this addition is useful for all future guests.

Beautiful quiet camping, loads of space for privacy.
