  • Family site on an organic farm 10 minutes’ drive from Cirencester
  • Chedworth Roman Villa 25 minutes’ drive; Cotswold Farm Park 35 minutes
  • Off-grid; well-stocked licensed shop and café; ebike hire
Once you arrive at Abbey Home Farm, 10 minutes’ drive from Cirencester, there’s absolutely no need to move off the site for the duration of your Gloucestershire stay. Why would you ever leave this 1,600-acre farm? Let’s start with the stunning views over Cotswolds fields, and move on to the organic farm shop packed with home-grown fruit and veg. It also sells dairy produce and meat from the farm cows for barbecues (bring your own from home), and – even better – it’s licensed too. There’s also a popular café that's just the spot for coffee to kick-start the day, plus homemade cakes and veggie lunches. All of this is within a 10- to 15-minute gentle stroll of the remotest holiday spots within the farm's woodlands and fields. The farm site is off-grid, with simple facilities including drinking water straight from a farm borehole, washing-up sinks, gas showers and compost loos tucked into the woods. And to top that, everything is crafted from reclaimed or recycled materials. There are wheelbarrows to roll gear in should you need it, as the pitches are spread all over the farm. Just one thing to remember: this site is not party central, so no noise after 10pm please.

Green Field unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Love this place! So idyllic and so much to explore. We hired ebikes from Cotswold ebikes and Darren gave us a fantastic route to follow, it was the highlight of our trip!
The farm shop and cafe is wonderful and the food is amazing!
I would love try the hut by the pond next time, it looks so dreamy.

Beautiful setting with great amenities. A hot shower in the woodland was…

Green Field unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Beautiful setting with great amenities. A hot shower in the woodland was a really nice treat and having the farm shop on site to stock up on food for the bbq was amazing. We received a really warm welcome and managed to fit 2 of the suggested walks into our 1 night stay. Hope to be back soon!

Green Field unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely farm shop near by with a big variety. Eco friendly site with compost loos.

Disliked Small thing but I didn’t like having to check in at somewhere not on the camp site .
The camper van area was much smaller than expected and is boxed in with tall hedges so no views. Vans were quite squashed in . In contrast, the tent field looked beautiful and spacious so if visiting with a tent I would recommend.

From the manager: Hi, we were just saying whilst checking the site last night how this weekend all vans parked up the same hedge, leaving the same space again down the other hedge totally empty (bar one van). It was very odd but totally understand why it must have felt squashed. At check in we do tell all guests to park either side. Apologies they all clumped together this time. Best wishes, AHF

Green Field unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Everything was just a i expected basic camping as it should be.
Staff very friendly and helpful shop has nearly everything you need but slightly expensive but as most of it is organic it's what you should expect.

Liked The site was nice and quiet with lots of space.

Disliked The only toilets available were compost toilets and the showers weren't very pleasant to use.

Green Field unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Secure and well away from the roadside.
Lovely views from the tent field.
Wheelbarrows provided to transport gear from the car park to your tent.
Toilet facilities were in good condition.
Water supply 👍

Disliked It was a bit confusing what to do when arriving.
There wasn't any signage at the Farm Shop regarding camping.
(FYI, you have to go in and speak to some one in the Farm Shop and they will direct you.)

It is a bit annoying that you have to check-in at the Farm Shop as it closes at 17:00. I was originally planning to arrive at about 20:00/21:00. But had to cut my day short to get there on time.
And luck that I did, as I would never have found the place, or got the gate code otherwise.

Maybe, include the check-in info & gate code in an email instead.

From the manager: Hi Elliot, Thanks for your feedback. We understand it is an unusual system but to make the it work and fit in with the rest of farm life we do have these set check in times. For security and privacy we do keep the campsite location private and like to check in someone from each booking in person. Great to see you'd come back though. Best wishes, AHF

Green Field unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Fantastic camp site, beautiful views. Nice and quiet, everything there you need. Farm shop was lovely filled with the farm's products. Didn't use the cafe, as we like to cook on our pitch. Very welcoming staff.😁 Great that that there were no cars on the pitch we picked.... wheelbarrows were provided. Showers lovely and hot.

Disliked The compost loos.... but we knew that before we went.

Would definitely visit again and very nicely priced.

Green Field unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely quiet site. Off grid but had compost toilets (didn't use) as had our own and a couple of showers. Washing up sinks. Great walk around the farm trail. Lovely family.

Disliked One of the showers was unbearably hot but the other was fine.

Natural pitches, gorgeous views, leave it as you found it, perfect!

Green Field unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked What a wonderful place, a woodland trail, a field with no boundaries to where you pitched and no vehicles on the field too. Was very nice to be able to park the Motorbike in the open Barn so if we did have some rain it was sheltered. Surprised some other people didn't quite get the concept of Greenfield campsites as heard a couple of people asking where to put the rubbish!
I woke to the sound of the Skylark before dawn of the morning of the Summer Solstice and what a sunrise I got to see. I was joined by a Hare in the field and the birds singing their morning chorus. An amazing space to chill out, relax and just rest.

Disliked It's a bit stoney and hard on the ground so you will need to pack a hammer/ mallet to put your tent pegs in with. Not a negative but something that you should be aware of.
Just an idea that maybe some solar powered lights in the toilets might help.

Local attractions

Keen to explore the area on two wheels? Rent a bicycle from Cotswold eBikes on site, and set off down quiet rural roads to pretty villages built of mellow stone in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (20 minutes’ ride). If you’ve got kids on board, make for the lakeside beach and floating inflatables at Cotswold Country Park and Beach (40 minutes), or let them burn off more energy on paddleboards and kayaks at Lake 32 Outdoor Centre (35 minutes). When only cuddling animals will do, it’s time to head to Cotswold Farm Park (35 minutes’ drive), to bottle-feed lambs, baby goats and piglets, see rare-breed farm animals and take tractor rides. In search of a bit of Cotswolds history? You’ll find it among the fourth-century AD Roman ruins at Chedworth Roman Villa (25 minutes’ drive), where you can admire ornate floor mosaics and the Roman version of central heating. If your interest is piqued, you can see more local Roman finds at the Corinium Museum (10 minutes), which has fine displays of sculpture, mosaics and jewellery.
