Sept 2025

Liked Stayed one night in September, the week before the site closes for the winter. We had a lovely welcome by the owner who stayed to chat a little. Toilets were clean, showers good and the site was spotless. There is a pub a short walk from the campsite serving food although we only had a drink there. There is a bus service into town. We intend to return and spend a few night in the campsite, exploring the local towns by public transport.

Reedham Ferry Touring and Camping Park

Nice quiet campsite, would certainly go again.

Sept 2025

Liked Stayed on grass, no electric. Great location right next to a pub (not open Monday or Tuesday) and the chain ferry across the fen. The grass/no electric is a big open field - choose your spot. Site and toilets/showers were clean and tidy. Very quiet place. Dinner in the pub on wednesday was great. Didn't meet any staff - but no problems either.

Disliked More of some advice for potential visitors - at least the men. The mens toilets, washbasins and showers are in one large area with suitable partitions. If you visit either before dawn or after dusk, take a lamp. Unless the place is busy you will be plunged into darkness at some point. Only one PIR over entrance door. Light is essential for both seeking soap and toilet paper. I am 80 and don't bend as well as I used to - there is nowhere to put shampoo or soap accessible from the shower other than on the floor. I go equipped with a poly bag and hooks which go over the partitions to keep essentials in whilst showering. Shower farthest from entrance has VERY short time-on push button so single handed washing is necessary.

Great site and would visit again.

Aug 2025

Liked Stayed early august 25. In the very large field for camping/caravanning. Chose that so tent and camper van could be in close proximity. Toliets and showers V modern and clean. The whole environment of the Marina was really well kept. Interesting to look at all the narrow boats.

Disliked The live music on Saturday afternoon was inescapable - i.e. megaphonic. OK if you like that sort of thing. There was a short walk along the opposite side of the canal to the towpath but a bit of a threat with brambles, nettles etc. Not obvious how to get to the towpath for a longer walk.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the spacious field, modern facilities, and the unique atmosphere of the marina. Sorry the live music wasn’t to your taste, we’ll look into how we can better balance events with quieter areas. We also appreciate your note about access to the towpath and will work on clearer signage for future guests. Thanks again, and we hope to welcome you back!

Great, we like seaside campsites. Will stay again.

May 2025

Liked Stayed one night somewhat out of season so not too busy. Lovely campsite next to the sea. Toilets and showers are great. Easy walk into Crail (assuming not raining). Bus stop to St Andrews/ Anstruther etc within easy walking distance. We intend to visit again and explore the area by public transport

From the manager: Thank you for your kind review, hope to see you back soon in the near future. Kind Regards Carole.

Great site to stay with camper van+pup tent.

Aug 2025

Liked Big, open camping field (grass, no hookup). Great toilets and showers (unisex). Very active marina with bar. A really relaxed feel to the campsite.

Disliked Saturday night music was a bit megaphonic.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the great feedback! We're really pleased you enjoyed the open space, facilities, and relaxed vibe. Sorry the Saturday night music was a bit loud — we’ll keep an eye on the volume to keep things enjoyable for everyone. Hope to see you again soon!

Cute place to stay. A bit scruffy but very clean and welcoming

Jul 2025

Liked Pitches mixed in with bushes etc meant a cosy feeling to the park. We got held up so arrived around 6pm - no problem from the management. Showers were clean and hot and I got used to the light going out every 20 seconds or so. Lots of drinking water points

Disliked Maybe could do with a (more obvious) sign outside. First we zoomed past, then did a U turn and stopped at the pub. The pub directed us to a gate "push the button to be let in", but no button. Venturing through the gate I was met and led to pitch. No problem. Showers- nowhere to put shampoo bottle other than floor ( a long way down when you are 79).

Great, quiet place to stay in easy reach of Inverness.

May 2025

Liked Beautiful, calm and quiet site. "If you are booked, enter and choose a vacant pitch" -wonderful. Toilets and showers immaculately clean and centrally located. Showers have easily controllable hot water. Good spacing and lots of trees and cover between pitches. Very cheeky robins beg for crumbs (even entered the van looking for food). Some pitches have picnic tables.

Disliked There were 3 showers, all modern and beautiful. Two of them have no hooks to keep your clothes dry, or to hang your towel. In those two, there is nowhere to put down soap or shampoo in the shower cubicle. Small things but when you are getting on a bit, small things count.

Great overnight stay with traditional pub on site.

Mar 2025

Liked Stayed early March 25. Very quiet, pub onsite (only 17:00 to 19:30 at this time of year) Toilets clean and warm. External washing up with warm water. Easy-going site.

Disliked Take a lamp to wash up in the dark.

From the manager: Hi Thank you for your review. Yes it is a quiet time for us in March but you cant beat sitting in front of our 16th Century open wood fire! As the season picks up we do open longer hours and hopefully you will get to see this when you return. Sorry about the lighting on our outdoors washing up area - waiting for our handy many to install a new canopy with lighting. Cheers Peter & Team

Lodge Park

Settle, North Yorkshire, England

Lots of space for wild camping, convenient for walking to Settle

Aug 2024

Liked The site is on three levels, the top level seems to be (mostly?) hard standing. The mid level field (perhaps 4 metres lower) and the lowest level field, a couple of metres lower. The fields are huge. We picked the middle field and were approx 20 metres away from the nearest camper. In august there were a lot of campers but the fields were far from full. Thus, if you like lots of space and a grass pitch, this is your place. The toilets and washing facilities were clean and modern but not extensive given the size of the fields. Check-in was easy and pleasant. Only a 20 min walk to Settle so really convenient for shops and pubs etc.

Disliked Certainly take wellies or other waterproof shoes - we were late arriving and parked our van in long grass (maybe 20cm high). Ipso facto the dew was extensive in the morning. There is a bit of a climb up to the toilet block (I noted someone driving up from the bottom field :-)). The fields are "wild" camping. Despite these minor things, we would go again.

Really well suited to families and people who like fishing in the pond

Aug 2024

Liked Animals Galore, on-site bar, friendly atmosphere.

Disliked It is all a bit scruffy but nobody seems to mind much.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Disappointed with your view that everything is scruffy. As in every holiday season we are amazed by the amount of stuff that gets chucked in the lake, the digging that happens around site as well as the amount of rubbish/litter laying around. Not only is it no one’s kids and no one sees anything. That’s more disappointing than this review. We work our arse off tidying up and repairing, on top of challenging negative behaviour yet not just carers but other adults either choose not to see anything or fail to help us. How much more can we do!!!

Great stay, hope to stay again soon.

May 2024

Liked Great night at Teds Farm. Very charming owners spent some time with us - also giving us hints for camping in the south of England. Also nicely helped looked for the best "no slope" because we haven't ramps for the van. Toilets/showers warm and clean.

Disliked Nothing

Good value if you are not too picky.

Mar 2024

Liked Low price. Easy to find. Quick to check in. Friendly staff. Good beer. Pub couldn't be closer.

Disliked Toilet block clean but needs much refurbishment - rather dilapidated. Hard standing has round stones so tend to move and sink.

Comfortable night stay in very wet weather.

Feb 2024

Liked Stayed in Feb in the rain. Great check-in with very helpful host. Easy to find site. In February - very quiet! Toilets in reception (our nearest) were nicely decorated and warm. Water was hot. Hard standing sites for a few vans were close to reception. i.e. not far to walk for shower.

Disliked Being somewhat aged and creaky it is difficult to get dressed without somewhere to sit. There are no wet seats in shower nor any dry in the toilet area. Take a stool if you need to sit for installing your socks and shoes. The PIR lights for the toilet time out, leaving you sitting in the dark and no means of re-illuminating them. Remember to take a torch if you need to contemplate prior to taking action. The showers are HOT, really HOT and no means of turning the temperature down - the thermostat controls were faulty. Dip in and out worked but a bit tricky.
