Electric optional grass touring pitch
Liked The tranquility of the place. The location to Hingham Town and the customer service were all top notch. Oh and the free membership you get to the sports bar ‘Abrahams’ just across the road, where the prices are half that of most Pubs.
Disliked Toilets ok but not superb, with only a small number. Minor as a lot of people were in caravans or motorhomes.

Liked Second visit and second review. Love this place from the well maintained pitches with nice beech hedges separating them. The welcome from the owners and now as of the 1 Aug 26, the superb toilet and shower facilities. They are the best I have seen at any campsite in Europe. Even better than most hotel en suites. Each one has everything you need from toilet, sink with mirror and then a superb shower with curved glass. Everything you need is behind that one door including hair drier. Well done on this one.
Disliked Nothing at all, but I now suspect getting a pitch here will be more difficult.

Liked The owner was very pleasant and the bar a nice modern building. WIFI was better than most. Facilities clean and modern with easy access to Le Shuttle.
Disliked Well, this is advertised as a campsite as normal, in reality it is a park mainly composed of small privately owned statics. Having just finished a huge French road trip this was the only site like this. I think this site needs to decide on whether it wants to be a camp site or a private dwelling site, but not both.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. We do our best to give our guests a warm welcome and provide good-quality facilities and services. Many campsites in northern France offer a mix of rental accommodation, touring pitches and seasonal residents. These are people who own a mobile home and come to enjoy it at weekends or during their holidays, but do not live on the campsite all year round. We therefore feel that your criticism on this particular point is somewhat unfair and misplaced. We wish you a lovely day and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future. Liked The location close to the exceptional town and cleanliness of facilities. Loved the town.
Disliked Very basic site with very little there. More a camp site than a motorhome stopover.

Liked The site and the reception from the proprietor. The Chateau and grounds were wonderful. No issues with the toilet block. Although not a holiday park it is about right for a normal camp site. Some of the previous reviews were clearly written by people expecting Hoseasons. Be prepared that the restaurant isn’t always open but camping and caravaning is about being self sufficient.
Disliked Other people staying. A Dutch couple parked up blocking the route into and out of the area we were in unless I wanted to hit low branches. Despite telling them they had blocked the road they stayed all night like that. See photo. No fault of the site though/

Liked The exceptional reception we got and the extremely well kept site. The pitches have everything you could want and have great hedges defining the boundary of each pitch. It was a very pleasurable walk into town with many pubs etc to choose from. One of our favourite sites. Didn’t need showers and toilets and I hope it doesn’t change when they are completed.
Disliked Nothing at all.

Liked The welcome by the exceptional staff. The quietness of the surroundings and the access to some of the most wonderful long walks. The facilities are superbly new and replaced often by the company. Loved it.
Disliked Nothing to do with the place, but some idiotic others staying there with dogs. Late at night and very early in the morning 2 dogs continually barking. Why can’t these people realise their dog is barking and just tell it to shut up.

From the manager: Great review Chris, thank you very much. We are really pleased you had a lovely time and enjoyed your surroundings. We are very lucky to have so many fantastic walk options from the campsite. I'm sorry you were disturbed by other campers dogs. I wish you would have mentioned it to myself or my husband, we could have spoken to the owners and hopefully given you some peace. Very please to hear it hasn't put you off coming and we very much look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Tracey and Lee-Roy

Liked Stayed just one night. The welcome by reception staff and the location is top notch. The bar is great but cant say what the food is like.
Disliked We were in a pitch right next to the kids play area and that was right next to the bar. In the afternoon we sat in the sun and had to cope with a football being kicked against a cage wall which rattled each time. This went on for hours. But we are realists and kids need to have fun.
In the evening and up until 2200 this continued. Kids in the dark kicking a ball around the cage causing a lot of noise. I can only assume that the parents were in the bar.
WIFI - In this day and age either good signal or good wifi are a must. This had neither for the pitches.

Liked The welcome, the quietness and the great walks through the lakes. They are being honest when saying it would help to be self sufficient but for me the toilets were ok and the showers looked fine, although didn’t use them. Food was great especially the full breakfasts. Pub walkable just, or a 2 min drive.
Disliked Nothing really and I think this will become popular.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review. We’re delighted that you enjoyed the warm welcome, peaceful surroundings, lakeside walks and especially our full breakfast! We appreciate your understanding that our campsite is best suited to self-sufficient caravans and motorhomes, although our toilet and shower facilities are available for guests. Thank you for your kind words and support—we hope to welcome you back to Billingford Lakes again soon.

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (hot tub, adults only)
Liked The newness, the restaurant and the location. Most staff were tip top and the food in the restaurant was superb. The hot tub was an added luxury and the toilet block was very new, clean and tidy.
Disliked The member of staff that took us to our pitch. Because, when we arrived We drove slowly past the sign that in big letters said Motorhomes Don’t park in the Car Park. We missed this as there was a large motorhome in the way. This sign also in smaller writing said park here for reception (didn’t see that until later). I saw a sign for the campsite so decided to give that a go. At this point after just 15 metres a man came running at us waving his arms and shouting at us, in a particularly aggressive manner. Telling us not to go there and to park back where we had just passed. I was a bit taken aback by this as just a polite comment would have had th same effect. We went to the reception and checked in, before the same man had to take us to our pitch. He was still no happier and the whole handover piece was awkward. Very poor customer service.

Liked Everything, particularly the location and the cleanliness of the site. Some previous complaints about fair use of the electricity were a little odd as we only paid 5 extra for 2 nights with all hearing provided through the hookup. Not too bad really in mid winter.
