Costa Brava, here you come – and if you’re clever, you’ll nab a pitch at Camping Vall d’Or, the only campsite overlooking the sandy beach at Platja d’Aro. This family-friendly spot has been welcoming guests for more than 50 years, so they must be doing something right. So what is it that they’re doing so well? Well, for starters there’s an enthusiastic team at reception ready to help you out in any way possible, and an eco-market with breakfast goodies, foodie treats and local produce for sale (plus a delivery service right to your pitch). You can catch the rays with a glass of something chilled at one of the terrace bars – and attend themed events and DJ sessions after nightfall – or dine on tapas and seafood paella in the restaurant. There’s a games area and organised sporty stuff to keep the kids entertained, while you have a go at Zumba or Pilates on the beach. And if you feel that you need a pamper after running around in the sun, book a treatment at the massage cabin. If the spectacular beachfront setting and all those facilities are not enough to convince you about Camping Vall d’Or, you may like to know that Port d’Aro marina is five minutes’ walk away for leisurely strolls around the yachts. If you want to up the night-time tempo a bit, Ocine Platja d’Aro mall (10 minutes’ walk) has a cinema, bowling alley and nightclub.

Brilliant beachfront site, direct sea access. Staff are lovely, pitches are spacious & clean. Handy for town. Some noise from groups, and Wi-Fi can be pricey/iffy. Kitchens could have more gear, shop was shut. Dogs welcome.

Liked Camping très agréable, en front de mer, près du port, très arboré, personnes de l'accueil très sympathique.

Disliked Mobil home vintage comme précisé lors de la réservation. Extérieur très bien mais intérieur moyen, surtout le revêtement du sol.
Côté équipement du jamais vu alors que nous louons une douzaine de Mobil home par an :
Pas de table ni de chaise à l'intérieur. Le matin il faisait seulement 11° nous devions rentrer la table tous les matins pour petit déjeuner.
Réfrigérateur très petit
Pas de tasses ni de bols, seulement 4 verres
Pas de cafetière
Pas de ramequins ou d'assiettes à dessert
1 seule petite casserole (et un grand faitout)
1 seule petite poêle
Pas de dessous de plat alors que la table de jardin (la seule) est en plastique
Pas de gros couteau
Pas de cuillère à servir
Pas un seul ceintre dans la penderie
Tout ce que je décris se trouve dans n'importe quel autre camping

Liked Die Lage des Campingplatzs ist super!

Disliked Der Stellplatz war schmutzig es lag ein Haufen Zweige auf unserem Stellplatz und der Mitarbeiter hat einfach noch frisch abgelegte Zweige dazugeben, für die ganze Urlaubszeit( 2 Wochen)
Personal ohne Plan was auf dem Campingplatz passiert, wir wurden bei Ankunft im Regen 4 mal los geschickt zu Plätzen die komplette unter Wasser standen und 2 von den Plätzen waren von dauercamper besetzt seit 9 Jahren. Personal an der Schranke hat es nicht hinbekommen sich zu merken trotz Foto vom Auto Kenzeichen und Platznummer das wir auch am Ende der zweite Woche zu ihnen gehören.
Sanitäter Einrichtung war nicht richtig sauber

Liked Had a great time at Vall d'Or. Proximity to playa and city centre are the best assest. It is a clean and well kept camping - will return

Disliked Not sure if due to proximity to stagnant water, but there were lots of mosquitos in the area and the cabins did not have mosquito netting on the windows - that could be easily fixed

Liked Muy bien situado y tranquilo. Camas cómodas pero en un espacio excesivamente reducido. Buena presión en la ducha. Bien para aparcar, acceso directo a la playa.

Disliked Habitaciones excesivamente pequeñas y menaje de cocina más que justo, cabaña para 4, pues ,4 platos llanos y 4 hondos, 4 vasos, 4 cuchillos, tenedores, cucharas y cucharillas, sin cafetera, .. vamos que si desayunas con agua y un café con leche, solo tienes un vaso para hacerlo, por poner un ejemplo.

Local attractions

There’s lots to keep active families occupied around Platja d’Aro. There are a couple of tennis clubs within 10 minutes’ walk, Skatepark Platja d’Aro (15 minutes) for skateboarders, and rope courses or zipwires at Costa Brava Parc Aventura Platja d’Aro (five minutes’ drive). Teach the kids the basics of golf at Pitch and Putt Mas Torrellas (10 minutes) or while away the afternoon on the thrill rides at Pp’s Park Platja d’Aro (15 minutes’ walk). To see a little more of the region, rent a motorboat from the marina (five minutes) to explore beaches and hidden coves up and down the Mediterranean coastline. Should you feel the need to stir from beachfront Platja d’Aro altogether, head to historic Girona (40 minutes’ drive) to explore the labyrinthine El Call quarter, walk the ramparts for views of the cathedral and spot the city's Game of Thrones locations. Alternatively, spend the day in Barcelona (an hour and 15 minutes) to watch the street theatre on Las Ramblas, graze your way around the tapas bars of La Boqueria food market and tour Antoni Gaudí’s extraordinary Sagrada Família cathedral.
