Selina Maderas

If you came to Maderas for the surf, the local beaches should sort you out nicely. There are plenty of surf hotspots within easy reach of the site, including Playa Maderas (20 minutes’ walk), Playa Marsella (20 minutes and backed by forests for hiking) and, a little further away, El Remanso (half an hour’s drive and with handy surfboard rental). For more activities that will surely get your blood pumping, there are several activity centres within driving distance of the site too, including the Aventura Las Nubes Canopy Tour and Zipline Park (20 minutes). It's about more than just zipwires… there are also suspended stairs bridges, a Tarzan swing and abseiling available on one of the tallest trees in the town. If you’d prefer a hike, find some of the nicest views around (and there really are plenty) on the way to the Cristo de La Misericordia (around an hour and 10 minutes’ hike directly from the site). This site has a statue of Jesus 134 metres high up on a hill, overlooking the beach.
