Florence… but with added fresh air? Book yourselves into Hu Firenze Certosa Camping in Town and you’ll be in a fabulously spacious and scenic spot surrounded by greenery on a hillside about four miles from the city centre. This chilled-out site is in a very strategic position for dipping in and out of Florence – you can drive into the city centre in around 15 minutes, but it's likely to be much easier to hop on the bus from a stop a few minutes’ walk away and save yourself the hassle of parking. Take in all the amazing art, architecture, food and city vibes… and then when it’s time to relax, head back into the hills and enjoy an evening soaking up the peace and the views. After a long day of sightseeing you'll no doubt be pleased to have the chance to take a nice dip in the outdoor pool, pick up a cool beer at the bar and then settle down at the restaurant for a good meal on the cool covered terrace. Breakfast is served at the restaurant too, and the site has a well-stocked mini market for self-catering supplies. Florence may be the big draw here, but you could easily use this place as a base for other Tuscany trips too, heading out into the Chianti hills for walks and wine tasting or setting off for a stroll around Siena.

Liked Camping molto ben organizzato e gestito.
Pulizia del campeggio e dei bagni, eccellente.
Personale, giovane, molto cortese, disponibile e decisamente competente e professionale.
Il ristorante direi buono ( ho preso solo una pizza ). Piscina pulita e ben sorvegliata. Ottimo lo spazio solarium.

Disliked Se devo trovare un difetto, direi l'ingresso alle vasche della piscina. Circondata da un picco "fossato" per la pulizia dei piedi credo, risulta scivoloso

Disliked The cabins are quite old, customer service is poor, a lot of stuff is broken.

Liked Il camping era immerso nel verde, anche se molto vicino ai centri abitati di Scandicci e Certosa, i servizi erano davvero curati. Il bar molto ben fornito, la piscina bella e capiente ed il market aveva una varia scelta di prodotti. Il personale era molto gentile.

Liked Reception staff. I had not heard of this site before and had always stayed at the main Hu Firenze site so having this available on the particular date was good

Disliked Place was like a building site. I was on a pitch at the top of the hill and the restaurant, shop and pool were at the bottom. If I go again it would be to find a site closer to all amenities or would only go to the main Hu Firenze site.

Liked Facilities are going to be excellent. Big swimming pool and super clean toilets and showers plus very well stocked supermarket. Good restaurant. Most of this is because it has only just been built and opened.

Disliked Unfortunately the place was still being built in certain areas, one toilet block was not yet finished and there were various last minute modifications being made. Staff didn’t seem to be very familiar with anything - again a feature of its newness. The one big problem I had was the long distance from where were parked to toilets and the shop

Liked The swimming pool, the planting in general was very special including Olive Trees and Jasmine outside the bathrooms. The restaurant was very good and the toilets and showers that were finished were clean and very good. I do wonder if the place were to be full whether the facilities would be enough. Only one toilet block was useable. The market shop was also very good. Excellent WIFI

Disliked Unfortunately the place was still being built and added to when we stayed. I think they opened a little early. Long distances to walk for some pitches for toilets, reception and market. Not very helpful on identifying bins, places to water and empty, and no evidence of recycling. I think some of this is because it is so new.

Local attractions

To Florence first, of course… the travel options here are so handy that you can easily plan to do several smaller trips or one full-on day out, depending on how long you’re staying for. The list of things to see and do is practically endless, but should certainly include things like the Uffizi Galleries, the Accademia Gallery (home of Michelangelo's David), the Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo… and plenty of stops for tasty food and drinks. Speaking of drinks, you’ll be handily close to the Chianti wineries here, so spending a day or two exploring the area, stopping in at vineyards, taking rural walks and visiting pretty villages like Greve in Chianti (half an hour’s drive) and Castellina in Chianti (35 minutes). For an insight into local food as well, tour the Museo della Pasta del Pastificio Morelli (40 minutes). A little further afield but worth the trip are other Tuscany towns and cities including Pistoia (35 minutes), Siena (50 minutes) and Arezzo (50 minutes). The intriguing Museum of Glass in Empoli (35 minutes) is worth a visit too.
