- Peaceful site on a riverbank in the Suisse-Normande region
- Near good fishing spots and 140 kilometres of hiking trails
- Playground, pétanque court and food shop
Peace, quiet and the riverbanks of the Orne and Rouvre are the main draws of this site in the Suisse-Normande region… and the fact that it’s close to the Roche d'Oëtre rock formation, the fromageries of Camembert, and 140 kilometres of countryside hiking trails.
Hikers will have their pick of the plethora of routes of varying lengths all over this land, with some starting right from or very near to the site, and more demanding routes around the Roche d'Oëtre area two minutes’ walk away. Other activities available nearby include canoeing, mountain biking and – yes, true – cow riding.
Camping de la Rouvre has direct access to the Rouvre for fishing, with trout and pike among the species you might land, and the banks of the Orne are 500 metres from base for more angling. Back on site, a peaceful vibe reigns with no disco or entertainment to interrupt the riverside vibe, just a playground to keep the kids topped up with fun and a pétanque court for gentle games.
Essential food items can be procured at the on-site food shop, and other bits can be picked up at various farmers’ markets throughout the week, such as in Condé on Thursday mornings, in Cliff on Saturday mornings and in Clécy on Sunday mornings (in season), all a short drive away.

Local attractions
A full 140 kilometres of hiking trails network the local area, with plenty starting from the site to take you to La Roche d'Oëtre or out to the wider Normandy landscapes for scenic vistas and serene countryside strolls.
Those who thrive on thrills should check out the Orne Aventure la Roche d'Oëtre treetop adventure park to hang around its giant ziplines, monkey bridges and tarzan jumps, or try horse, pony or cow riding excursions (yep), all two kilometres from base.
For further outdoor adventurings, go for canoeing/ kayaking, paddleboarding, mountain biking and climbing trips from Pont d'Ouilly’s recreation centre. Slightly slower paced excursions include trips on the Pont Erembourg Vélorail or the Clécy Miniature Railway, both within 20 kilometres, or (the clear winner, obvs) cheese tasting at the heaps of whiffy-cheese producers that wield their wheels over in Camembert.
