Getting away to the Brecon Beacons National Park doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have to give up the cakes and ale… despite being a rural retreat, the little comforts live on at Black Mountains Glamping. On the lower slopes of Hatterrall Hill, this site has private fully-furnished bell tents suited to couples and families, built for a peaceful stay surrounded by farmlands and ancient woodland. How to make the most of the views of the Sugarloaf and surrounding mountains? Well, the spacious six-metre bell tents have their own firepit and cooking grill with the works, including crookery and utensils, basic pots and pans, a single ring gas burner (two gas refills supplied) and a picnic table, two outdoor beanbags and folding chairs to get down to business. This is a pretty ambient setting, thanks to outdoor lanterns and solar or battery-operated lights. The cosy feel continues inside too, where there’s a king-sized bed and two single futons (bedding provided). You’ll also have access to an outdoor hot water shower (view included) and an eco-friendly composting toilet too. Parking is a little way away, so there’s a 120-metre slight uphill walk to the tent, but staff will meet you on arrival to whisk off your bags if arranged for. You may want to leave your car behind for a while, as there are local walks around (with Welsh history galore) and splendid pubs for homecooked meals and refreshments within walking distance of the site.
