What customers say

Idyllic, tranquil site, great views & staff. Spotless facilities, lovely stream setting. Some wasps, spotty Wi-Fi, steep pitches, and occasional shower block grumbles when busy.

Reservoir View 1 bedroom camping pod

Liked We had a wonderful stay in the camping pod! Everything was very well organised, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the whole place is perfect for a relaxing getaway. We loved the beautiful surroundings, the hills, the lake, and the many great hiking opportunities nearby. We’d definitely come back again!

Stream Side non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Friendly staff, great views, very outdoors

Disliked It was outdoors to the point of no signal, The wi-fi worked by the buildings but not the visitors car park or either campsite area very well. The toilet block is restricted use 1800-800 unless prior arrangement so I used the portaloo which would have been fine but wet toilet roll dead spiders and webs everywhere wasn't something I expected to see.

Stream Side non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Picturesque pitch next to the stream. Not too busy. Friendly staff in the reception. Decent value. Gorgeous location. Facilities were fine - much better than most other campsites of this type.

Oh, and great pizzas on pizza nights. Perfect after an all-day hike.

Overall, an amazing campsite for our hiking group, with just a few drawbacks.

Disliked As expected, don't rely on the WiFi - it's very slow when it works, but it rarely works. Better than nothing and not a huge issue for me, but none of us had signal/4G etc.

The much bigger issue was the wasps. if you're allergic to wasps, DO NOT COME HERE. I've never seen so many wasps in one place in my life - around the whole campsite/reception area, wasps everywhere!!

Oh, and there's quite a lot of sheep poo about.

Reservoir View 1 bedroom camping pod

Liked Nice location. Good views.

Disliked Sheep allowed to roam all over public areas. Their poop all over the grass and walkways. No one cleaning up after them. Also outdoor lighting at the pod not working. Though I understand the need for plastic plates and cups at the campsite, cheap bendy cutlery was just awful.

Local attractions

Keen on investigating south Wales' industrial heritage? Set off to Cyfarthfa Castle (20 minutes’ drive) for a mansion belonging to the Crawshays, the family who owned the old Cyfarthfa Ironworks, or head further (45 minutes) to the aristocratic Bute clan's Castell Coch, a fairytale building designed by architect William Burgess. Visitors to the area can also turn back time to the 1600s at the National Trust’s Tredegar House (50 minutes) while meandering around a Charles II-era mansion and gardens. Treat yourself to a tipple afterwards as a reward for being so cultural at the Penderyn Distillery Visitor Centre, where tastings of the famed Welsh whisky as well as chocolate-making classes can be had 25 minutes’ drive from the park. If the wild’s where you want to be, Horseshoe Falls in the Beacons is 40 minutes’ drive away for walks beside water, and the popular market towns of Crickhowell and Brecon are the same distance if you’d rather ply pretty high streets. For fab scenery a little further on, Sirhowy Valley Country Park is 50 minutes away.
