  • Five-acre site overlooking the Vale of Llangollen
  • Only half a mile from the beautiful Horseshoe Pass
  • An ideal location from which to visit Snowdonia National Park
Seeking a scenic setting close to the countryside for dawdles around Denbighshire…? Then set your sights on a stay at Abbey Grange Campsite, on a five-acre site in front of The Abbey Grange Hotel and overlooking the pretty Vale of Llangollen. Surrounded by fields and mountains, this park is half a mile from the well-known Horseshoe Pass and is a convenient base for exploring the immediate hilly surrounds or taking on treks in Snowdonia National Park (a 40-minute drive). Chances to climb, cycle, mountain bike, fish and golf are also around the local area – just ask on site for the lowdown. At the park, charging facilities are on hand for ensuring your GPS has enough batteries for when you’re out and about exploring the region, whether shopping in Llangollen, five minutes’ drive away, for food to bring back and grill up on the barbecue or ambling to the Cistercian Valley Crucis Abbey (less than a 10-minute walk). On your homecoming from hikes or other similarly energetic activities, hotel facilities such as the restaurant and bar are accessible for cosying up with a pint or a meal, and there's an outdoor play area to keep the kids busy. The site has male and female shower and toilet amenities, plus chemical disposal facilities.

What customers say

Cracking spot with lovely views and plenty of room on the pitches. Great for families, and the pub's a bonus. Some found the loos a bit dated and the road a tad noisy, with a few grumbles about the price.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked I didn’t get to see anything

Disliked I had booked and then had emergency work placements that I had to be there for. I tried for about 3 weeks to contact the site to change my dates. They just completely ignored me. Pitch up tried to contact them on my behalf they completely ignored them too

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Nice quiet location with lovely scenery.

Disliked Grass in Field 2 was quite long & needed cutting. The toilets & shower blocks were awfully run down & need work. Old rubbish lying round which makes it look scruffy. The advert was deceiving as it showed Horses in a field, our daughter was disappointed when we were told they never existed!

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Great site and location. Toilet and showers kept clean and minimal queuing. Fantastictic park for children.

Disliked Try not not pitch near the road as some cars can do past quite loud throughout the night.

Says no camp fires so we didnt bring any but a few other pitches did. Would have been perfect if we were able to have it as we were so so cold in the evening.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked It’s just an open field with a pretty view. Was very chilled and quiet. There’s a nice little park for kids.

Disliked The road next to it is very busy all night so I advise staying at the back of the field if noise disturbs you. The showers and toilets are awful, we didn’t use them. It’s expensive for what it is. We only stayed 1 night but I wouldn’t have stayed any longer and wouldn’t go back. I would not have been happy to have had my kids there with the state of the showers/toilets.

Liked Lovely campsite. Not far from llagollen town.
Nice and quiet. Little park for the kids to play on.
Pub food ok - minimal. But plenty of places to grab food if needed

Disliked Toilet facilities could be updated a little but nothing major. Clean enough to use.
