Grass pitch area

  • Quiet wildlife haven by the River Ithon
  • Peaceful and sheltered setting with free fishing on site
  • Licensed bar with Welsh beers, malt whiskies and more
Now this is a site that's fully in tune with its surroundings... peaceful and sheltered Disserth Caravan and Camping Park is in a wildlife haven on the banks of the River Ithon, where red kites and buzzards hover overhead and where you might catch a glimpse of the resident otter or kingfisher. Grayling trout fishing is available on site too and is free for guests; just remember to bring your rod licence. Junior explorers enjoy seeing what they can uncover in the depths with a net here as well; no licence required. (If angling's your thing, this is the area for it: the River Ithon is a tributary of the mighty River Wye, one of the best spots in the country for fishing and visited by anglers the world over to land salmon and trout from its waters.) Disserth Caravan and Camping Park is also quite in tune with what guests might fancy on hol, as it has a licensed bar with a good selection of Welsh beers and malt whiskies, as well as soft drinks, tea and coffee. Its well-kept amenities are in a modern log cabin with individual rooms, all with a toilet and washbasin and most also with a shower. Laundry and dishwashing facilities are also on site.

What customers say

Lovely, quiet spot by a river with a church. Owners are friendly and helpful. Facilities are spotless, with private showers. Good for relaxing, with local walks nearby. Some found signage tricky and wanted more to do on-site.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Very peaceful, lovely old church with lots of history, first night very nice second day very different!

Disliked Booked on pitch up it said dogs welcome? I have 3 very small dogs 1 Yorkshire terrier, 1 tiny bichon and a pug, the owner told me in the reception that we could go on any pitch as it was very quiet for them this weekend. The next day we took the dogs for a walk to be greeted by the owner who said if he had known yesterday that we had 3 dogs he would not have let us on site no matter how quiet the site was .
The only reference to dogs on our pitch up print out is that IT must be microchipped and not be one of several perceived "nasties"
At no point from reception to did he leave the building and come and inspect our van or our dogs.
The owner's attitude was very condescending and rude, it states on the booking NO gazebos but there was one on a residential pitch next door ??
BTW, the gazebo got moved to an empty field next to the site when we woke up this morning? ( i did take a photo yesterday afternoon ).
Lovely, well laid - out site, peaceful with good facilities, spoiled by an arrogant ass that quotes policy but does not follow up on it. Typical box - ticker!!
If you want to stay at a prison camp that has regiimental rules !!
NO MUSIC
NO TV'S TURNED LOUD
NO MORE THAN 2 TINY DOGS ( ANY OTHER ANIMALS ARE FINE,GOATS AND PIGS ARE NOT STATED AS EXCEPTIONS)
NO GAZEBO UNLESS YOU KNOW THE OWNERS PERSONALLY
ASK PERMISSION TO USE THE SHOWER FACILITIES!

We would have returned next year with it being so peaceful had it not been such an upsetting experience! we apologised for not knowing about the 3 dog rule and felt very threatened by the owner.
We are both in our later years and have been motorhome owners for the last 6 years and this is the first time we have encountered this kind of hostility.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Quiet peaceful site , well kept spotless toilets and showers , the building is a bit dated and could possibly do with an update but very functional. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only a ten minute drive to Llandrindod Wells or 15 minutes to Builth Wells .

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked A hidden gem . Set in a lovely location, the site has good facilities. The adjoining church is a treasure that seems untouched and has real beauty. You feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, buts its only 5 minutes in the car an there's a large Tesco and an Aldi for all your needs . A selection of takeaways and pubs . The area has lots of walks . The Elan valley is only 15 minute drive , the visitor centre there offers all day parking for just £3 and the scenery is spectacular . There's a cafe , gift shop , bike hire and numerous walks and cycling opportunities. Rhayader is also close and offer pubs , cafes and various shops . We also drove to Aberystwyth which is under an hour away and offers a lovely seafront and castle. I would highly recommend the site the owners are friendly but not intrusive and keep the site tidy and well maintained.

Local attractions

Disserth Caravan and Camping Park is in a nifty spot to use as a base to tackle the walks and bike rides of mid-Wales, or for visiting the shows and events of the nearby Royal Welsh Showground. The Elan valley and the Red Kite Feeding Centre at Gigrin Farm are 10 minutes' drive to the north. Also have a look at nearby Abbey Cym Hir Hall at Llandrindod Wells, a neo-Elizabethan country mansion built in the 19th century, and at the Judge's Lodgings in Presteigne, a recreation of a 19th-century judge's house – courtroom included. Llandrindod Wells has the National Cycle Collection of Wales in its National Cycle Museum as well as an 18-hole golf course.
