Now this is a site that's fully in tune with its surroundings... peaceful and sheltered Disserth Caravan and Camping Park is in a wildlife haven on the banks of the River Ithon, where red kites and buzzards hover overhead and where you might catch a glimpse of the resident otter or kingfisher. Grayling trout fishing is available on site too and is free for guests; just remember to bring your rod licence. Junior explorers enjoy seeing what they can uncover in the depths with a net here as well; no licence required. (If angling's your thing, this is the area for it: the River Ithon is a tributary of the mighty River Wye, one of the best spots in the country for fishing and visited by anglers the world over to land salmon and trout from its waters.) Disserth Caravan and Camping Park is also quite in tune with what guests might fancy on hol, as it has a licensed bar with a good selection of Welsh beers and malt whiskies, as well as soft drinks, tea and coffee. Its well-kept amenities are in a modern log cabin with individual rooms, all with a toilet and washbasin and most also with a shower. Laundry and dishwashing facilities are also on site.

A grand spot, sure to peace ye out by the river. Spotless showers and lovely folk run the place. Lots of nature about, and a church for the quiet. Pitches are a bit close, mind, and not much shop nearby.

Liked This is a beautiful well kept campsite, very clean and quiet 🤫 in the middle of no where but a five minute drive to shops. They even have a fridge, microwave and oven for everyone to use, these appliances were spotless. Very nice site. Once the stream. Is replenished with water you can even fish free of charge .

Shepherd's hut

Liked - Sehr gemütliche Schäferhütte ("Peter Lustig Bauwagen"(;-)) in der ich mich SEHR wohl gefühlt habe, auch wenn das Wetter mal nicht immer ganz Trocken war.
- Das Doppelbett (Tagsüber auch zur normalen Sitzbank mit wenigen Handgriffen umklappbar) mit gepolster Matratze war sehr bequem.
- Die überdachte Verander lässt auch bei "normalen" Regenschauern ein sitzen und kochen zu, ohne das man dabei direkt nass wird.
- Geschützte und vom Rest des Campingplatz nicht einsehbar Lage der Eingangstüre, so das diese bei mir in der Regel tagsüber immer ganz offen stand.
- Für die etwas kühleren Tage (Übergangszeit) gibt es auch eine elektrische Heizung, welche ich aber nie einschalten musste.
- Wasserkocher, Microwelle und Kühlschrank leisteten beste Dienste.
- Schöne und wirkunksvolle Gardinen an allen Fenstern.
- Ich würde zur Mitnahme eines standsicheren, flachen, rechteckigen "Einflammen-Gaskochers" raten, für den auf der Verander eine dafür vorbereitete Standfläche in guter Arbeitshöhe angebracht ist.
- Gesamteindruck des Campingplatzes ist sehr aufgeräumt, ruhig, landschaftlich schön gelegen.
- Viele Möglichkeiten zum "Fliegenfischen" im direkten Umfeld, auch wenn der River Ithon direkt am Campingplatz wie zu meiner Aufenthaltzeit leider "zu wenig" Wasser führte. Hierzu einfach Infos beim Campingsplatzbetreiber, oder den Angelhändlern in Builth Wells und Rhayader befragen. (Bzw. auch sehr gute Infos unter den Begriffen fishingpassport.co.uk )

- Zu der "Schäferhütte" gehört auch ein eigenes, separates, sehr sauberes großes WC / Dusche / Waschbecken, welche nur für die Bewohner der "Schäferhütte" zur Verfügung steht. (In <1 Minute Fussweg erreichbar).

- Sehr nette Betreiber des Campingplatzes.

Ich war von allem begeistert und komme auf jedenfalle gerne zum Fliegenfischen wieder und hoffentlich dann bei besseren Flusswasserständen.

Ich kann die "Schäferhütte" nur bestens emfpehlen. (;-))

Disliked - Die Schniere / Schlösser an den Fenstern und vor allem an der Türe sollten alle einmal technisch angepasst / überarbeitet werden, da diese vor allem an der zweiteiligen Eingangstüre nicht mehr wirklich sicher verschließen und bei der nächtlichen Nutzung unmäßig laut sind.
Auch die Luftdichtheit an der Türe sollte mit einfachen Mitteln angepasst werden, da hierdurch Wind / Mücken / usw. einen Einlassort finden.

Liked I liked everything about this place.
The people were lovely.
The grounds were clean and tidy and well kept.
The toilets and showers were clean with no smell.
The lady and gentleman that was there was very nice and polite they showed use where everything was. And shown us to the spot we was going to stay at.
There is no night time lights in the camping area that I really loved as it was a lovely clear sky and you could see all the stars it was beautiful and amazing to see. Everyone was very quiet at about 10.30pm.

If you are taking a dog there is a walk through on the main road.
So go out of the site turn left go up a little bit then you can turn left again. Carry on walking but keep your eye out for a gap in the hedge with a gate.
It’s a farmer’s field I just walked my girl around the edge of the field.
Make sure you pick up your dog’s poop.
