What customers say

Cracking spot with grand views of Ben Nevis, handy for Fort William. Clean facilities, especially the showers, and staff were sound. Riverside tent pitches were a winner. Shower timers a bit short, WiFi spotty in places, and it can get a bit noisy when it's busy. Well worth a visit!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Nice level grass pitch next to the river, lovely staff, great showers. The views from this campsite will stay with you forever. Also, WiFi was an added bonus.

Disliked Toilets need checking more than once a day, sadly some of the other male campers were not all that respectful of the amenities. More dish washing facilities would be great as there was always a long queue at meal times.

Local attractions

The owners reckon there’s something for everyone around this site, but walkers and cyclists are especially sorted when it comes to activities. If you’re up for a trek, challenge yourself to one of the trails up Ben Nevis, getting intel on which ones to tackle at the mountain range’s visitor centre, just over five minutes’ drive away. If you’re after a lazier lope, amble along the Caledonian Canal from the locks at Neptune's Staircase (25 minutes’ walk) or get your RDA of exercise by nipping in and out of the shops of Fort William (five minutes’ drive). The town has plenty of stores selling mountaineering kit if you need equipment to try out the more intense pursuits – think skiing and downhill biking – available in the area. For a family day out, make your way to the Glenfinnan Viaduct (25 minutes’ drive) and see if the kids recognise it from the Harry Potter films – the Hogwarts Express was filmed crossing this oh-so-scenic bridge. Saving perhaps the best activity till last, top off your trip by paying a visit to the whisky makers at the Ben Nevis Distillery (15 minutes’ walk) for a few drams of one of Scotland’s finest exports.
