What customers say

A wee, friendly, quiet site with lovely rural views near National Trust walks. Facilities are usually clean, with some mentioning underfloor heating. The owner's a gem! A bit of railway noise and tidying needed, but overall grand.

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked Small site with all the necessary amenities.
Good as a one night stop.

Disliked Not the sites problem but the nearest pub needed bookings to eat - we walked there to find out on arrival so we had to walk back and rustle up an easy meal.worth putting in the information on the site

Liked Great communication and a very nice welcome. The campsite even supplied me with extra blankets as it was a cold night, thanks very much.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked The showers were exceptional, great for a pit stop.

Disliked Very small space so felt we were on top of the people around us. The trains are so loud they vibrate everything, they do not run through the night but start early morning.

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked Really friendly welcome, recognised us from previous years, as we come here each year the night before going to End of The Road festival which isn’t far away. It’s a great little stop for us before heading to the festival, and we make use of the lovely large shower facility in the morning. Able to choose our own spot, and left to then enjoy the peaceful countryside around us. With no light pollution, the clear sky at night is amazing with all the stars visible. The onsite cat is so friendly and a lovely little bonus. Will be coming again next year!

Liked Made to feel very welcome. Good toilets and shower facilities. Local area lovely for walks. Lovely food at the local pub.

Disliked The passing trains (albeit only about 2 an hour) are close by and rather noisy.

Local attractions

So you’ve visited medieval Salisbury (25 minutes’ drive), gazed at the Magna Carta in Salisbury Cathedral and (hopefully) defeated an escape room, but what about Old Sarum (25 minutes)? The ruins are where Salisbury’s first settlers lived and nowadays, visitors can climb up the ramparts, see where the original cathedral once stood and admire the Iron Age hillfort too. Wilton (10 minutes) was the ancient capital of Wessex and well worth a stop for walks along the Wylye river, the markets and Wilton House (15 minutes). Historical sites don’t end just there, though, as further out, there are the 14th-century ruins of Old Wardour Castle (20 minutes) and grand Kingston Lacy (40 minutes), where there are Japanese gardens, play areas, art and antiquities and garden tours. If it’s a safari day you’re after, that’s not as unthinkable as you’d expect in the Wiltshire countryside, because Longleat (half an hour) has a self-driving safari park with a lion and monkey enclosure. You’re more likely to see New Forest ponies roaming around New Forest National Park (40 minutes). Canoeing, cycling, hiking, hiking – all sorts, really – can be tracked down here, but if it’s the coast you’re really after, Bournemouth (55 minutes), Poole (55 minutes) and Lymington (an hour and 10 minutes) are further on.
