Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked: The large field next to the campsite

Disliked: Felt like we were staying in a carpark. Considering how many pitches are on the site there is only 1 shower. Fine for this time of year but can imagine in the summer it would be quite hard to get a shower. Unless everyone has their own showers .

Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked: Location was convenient for access to Salisbury and Stonehenge. Had good basic facilities. Good communication with Corina on site. Reasonable rates with EHU. Personal guide from booking in to pitch by Corina. Shower room was spacious. Toilets clean. Excellent WiFi

Disliked: Train line runs alongside site but trains do stop late at night which is good so did not disturb sleep too much. Pitches were not marked. Only one shower. One female/male toilet which in high season could be a problem.

Liked: Fabulous communication with the site owners both pre visit and during. Lovely quiet site with good basic facilities - clean toilets, heated underfloor shower and tidy communal areas. WiFi is a huge added bonus and quite frankly a luxury with children in tow!

Disliked: Not a personal dislike (we loved it!) but to really see surrounding areas with ease, I feel you’d need a car to travel to the wonderful neighbouring towns and cities.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked: We stayed in January and February and found the site to be just what we wanted - a quiet location, good walks for the dogs, pubs that served good food not far away. The shower room had a lovely heated floor and was always clean as were the toilets. There was plenty of hot water in the dishwashing room and the addition of a washing machine was a big plus.

Disliked: The dishwashing building could do with a spruce up which I am sure is on the cards in the near future when the weather picks up.

Local attractions

So you’ve visited medieval Salisbury (25 minutes’ drive), gazed at the Magna Carta in Salisbury Cathedral and (hopefully) defeated an escape room, but what about Old Sarum (25 minutes)? The ruins are where Salisbury’s first settlers lived and nowadays, visitors can climb up the ramparts, see where the original cathedral once stood and admire the Iron Age hillfort too. Wilton (10 minutes) was the ancient capital of Wessex and well worth a stop for walks along the Wylye river, the markets and Wilton House (15 minutes). Historical sites don’t end just there, though, as further out, there are the 14th-century ruins of Old Wardour Castle (20 minutes) and grand Kingston Lacy (40 minutes), where there are Japanese gardens, play areas, art and antiquities and garden tours. If it’s a safari day you’re after, that’s not as unthinkable as you’d expect in the Wiltshire countryside, because Longleat (half an hour) has a self-driving safari park with a lion and monkey enclosure. You’re more likely to see New Forest ponies roaming around New Forest National Park (40 minutes). Canoeing, cycling, hiking, hiking – all sorts, really – can be tracked down here, but if it’s the coast you’re really after, Bournemouth (55 minutes), Poole (55 minutes) and Lymington (an hour and 10 minutes) are further on.
