  • Peaceful family-oriented site among spectacular scenery
  • A short drive to the New Forest; walking distance to Moors Valley
  • Local pub 20 minutes' walk away
Gundrys Farm is a peaceful family-run site in a wildlife haven 10 minutes' drive from the New Forest. A former working farm, it covers 50 acres of land to make up a scenic, friendly and family-oriented site with a countryside atmosphere. The farm is adjacent to the Moors Valley Country Park, 15 minutes of off-road walk or a short bike ride away, and 10 minutes' drive from Avon Heath Country Park. Outdoor days of a different sort can be easily had at Hurn's Adventure Wonderland, just over five miles away. Gundrys is a quiet site, with spacious, level and well-maintained pitches in a dedicated touring field in a wildlife haven with heaps of species to see. The local pub is worth spotting too, as it's only 20 minutes' amble away… Amenities include three shower blocks, four toilet blocks, washing-up areas and chemical disposal points, all of which are cleaned/checked several times daily.

Primrose electric grass pitch

Liked Peaceful surroundings, location and a flat pitch. We were welcomed by a very knowledgeable member of staff, although he was new to the role, he did an excellent job explaining where everything was and we managed to find a pitch in the shade.
Toilets were functional and clean. Showers were a bit tired but again functional. Tip: If using the showers let the water run, as it takes a while to warm up. 😀

Disliked Nothing. I can imagine the showers would be well used if both fields were full but seemed to manage with the amount of people staying while we were there.
Also if people cleared up after themselves the toilets would stay clean. While we were there someone left the toilet block door open, and light on. People should try and keep the site clean.

Primrose electric grass pitch

Liked Excellent location for exploring the New Forest, lovely quiet site and a good dog walk with plenty of dog waste bins. Sue and Simon welcomed me and showed me what was where and they were most helpful. Pitches are almost perfectly level which made setting up very easy.

Disliked Showers need a revamp.

Primrose electric grass pitch

Liked Great location. A jolly welcome from sue & her dog. Large space for the grandchildren to run around & play games. Great large & level pitch. No WiFi which was great for us, we were informed of this when we booked, but it wasn't a problem for us. Lovely walk to moors valley.

Disliked The toilets were in a wooden shed, which the outside door wouldn't shut. The only good thing about the showers was, they were hot. The cubicle we went in the roof was just perspex tiles of which 1 had moved & left a large gap, there were brambles growing through the other tiles. The drains were either blocked or just slow to drain. My daughter had a shower after showering her daughter & the water was running out the shower door, down the step & out into the main entrance. There are only 2 ladies toilets & 4 showers for the whole of the site, so I can imagine it there would be long queues in peak season.

Local attractions

Nature trails, bike paths, a golf course and monkeying around in the treetops of Go Ape are all at Moors Valley Country Park, reachable from Gundrys Farm via an easy bike ride or short ramble. Avon Heath Country Park and New Forest are both within a short drive. About 10 miles away are the clean, safe and award-winning beaches and waters of Bournemouth, Poole and Mudeford; sailing venue Weymouth is a bit further along the coast, and the Jurassic Coast is about 50 to 60 minutes from base by car. If you want to island-hop, it's about half an hour to the ferry for Brownsea Island, the National Trust wildlife haven in Poole Harbour accessible by boat from Poole Quay or Sandbanks. Brownsea has a shop and a café for after your island hike or a watery dip off the island's southern side; free guided walks leave from the visitor centre twice daily. Also in the area, the old centres of Salisbury and Southampton are both well worth the trip for city days out.
