  • Family-friendly north Devon holiday park with lots of activities
  • Under two miles from Woolacombe; Combe Martin 15 minutes
  • Surf machines, bungee trampoline, climbing wall, bowling and sauna
Join the thousands of sheep that flock to Woolacombe for the annual ovine hairdressing championships, with a trip to the green and pleasant gardens of the Golden Coast Holiday Village. Visitors have access to masses of activities on site, from the pumped up (cycling, tennis, water flumes, four indoor and outdoor swimming pools), to the more leisurely (bowling, fishing, pitch and putt, sauna and solarium). Although there’s no shortage of mod cons, the site retains an old-school charm, not least thanks to its Old Mill Inn, which has been keeping people fed and watered since the seventeenth century. In the evenings, guests can chill out and enjoy the valley views, grab a pint in the sports bar, or enjoy entertainment including game shows, family discos, tribute bands, comedians and illusionists. 'Messy mayhem' is promised at the various kids’ clubs for all age groups, and the little sprouts should have a fine time on the bungee trampoline and climbing wall; parents can confirm that their offspring actually do walk on water as they take to the inflatable human hamster balls in the pool, or show off their board skills on the Wavesurfer artificial surf machine. For a pit stop, try creating a family heirloom over a cuppa at the ceramic-painting café.

What customers say

Family-friendly spot with loads of activities and pools. Staff are grand, facilities usually clean but a bit dated. Pitches can be rough. Good value and location, though booking pools and extras can be a pain.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Me and my daughters had so much fun, this was our return visit. The staff were amazing as usual. I booked lots of the activities, my girls had the best time. Plus it's a short drive to the beach.

Disliked Don't enjoy waking up early to book swimming. It's a shame you can't book on a system on arrival.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked I stayed here with my 2 girls, I decided to go on a road trip from Essex, to Bristol, Devon and all the way to Cornwall. We loved it here so much we had to return on our travels back home. Amazing staff, the facilities were great, there was so much to do for my girls. Steve was fantastic, as a single mum I find towing the caravan and pitching a little daunting. Steve was fantastic on arrival he explained where my pitch was, including where all the facilities were. When leaving again Chris was so lovely I mentioned about coming back as the girls loved it so much, his line of work was above and beyond what a great asset you have their. When it come to booking the activities Aiden and Ben were fantastic.

Disliked The only thing I didn't like was getting up early to book swimming. If there was a booking system like the other activities it would be much better.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience—it’s heart-warming to hear how much you and your girls enjoyed your stay. We're thrilled that the team, especially Steve, Chris, Aiden, and Ben, made such a positive impact and helped make your road trip extra memorable. It’s great to know the facilities and activities hit the mark for your family.
We really appreciate your feedback about the swimming booking process. That’s a helpful suggestion, and we’ll pass it along to the team as we look at ways to make things even smoother for our guests.
Looking forward to welcoming you back again soon!

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked Plenty of facilities on site, places to eat, bars, shop.

Disliked Pitches resembled a car park. Very dusty especially with other people speeding up and down the pitch area. We had a fully serviced pitch which had hedges defining its boundaries, but many other pitches didn't so they were very close together. No record of our booking on arrival, when they checked not been confirmed even though we booked and paid through Pitch up. Not sure who was at fault but very distressing as they had to struggle to find us a pitch! Unable to use the swimming pool for the whole weekend as nowhere in our welcome pack did it explain you needed to book tickets at reception! When we did try we were amazed to see people returning tickets from the previous day unused, so selfishly they took them just in case, and by doing so deprived other people a chance!!
Also, paid for the wifi but still kept dropping out so not worth the money in our opinion.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your detailed feedback. We're glad to hear you appreciated the range of facilities on site. We're truly sorry for the booking confusion and the issues you experienced with pitch layout, pool access, and Wi-Fi reliability. Your comments have been shared with our team to help improve communication, amenity access, and overall guest experience. We really value your input and hope we can offer a smoother stay in the future.

Local attractions

Venture out and you’ll find loads to see and do in this part of North Devon. Clamber down the steep cobbledy streets to the fishing boats at the fourteenth-century quay in Clovelly (50 minutes' drive), or pay a visit to Barnstaple Pannier Market (25 minutes) to browse the local foodstuffs, arts and crafts, and antiques. Watermouth Castle (15 minutes) has dungeon labyrinths and a gnome land (anyone who thinks this sounds like the stuff of nightmares will be pacified by the dreamy views…). Nature lovers might enjoy an outing to the wilderness of Exmoor National Park to spot wild deer and ponies, choosing spots like the ruggedly gorgeous Valley of the Rocks (35 minutes) for wild goats and fossil hunting. For other days out, the kids can come face-to-leg with scarily lifelike dinosaurs and go swimming with sea lions at Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park (15 minutes), or just get spaced out by the rides at The Milky Way Adventure Park (45 minutes).
