Hardstanding campervan pitch
The outdoor pool
Pitch overlooking the devon countryside

  • Award-winning 80-acre site two miles from the beach
  • Pools, pub, fish and chip shop, sauna, steam room and gym
  • Five private fishing lakes, woodland adventure zone and nature trails
Anyone who relishes a bit of variety on their holidays should give this award-winning site serious consideration: there are buckets and spades of activities for all ages, both on site and in the immediate vicinity. Tucked into a valley, only a mile away from swathes of Blue Flag beaches, and a 10-minute drive from Dawlish Warren, Cofton Holidays has 80 acres of meadows, orchards and woodland laced with nature trails for visitors to explore. The facilities here will keep the whole family happily entertained for weeks: Cofton's indoor pool has massage jets and hydrotherapy bubble loungers, as well as a sauna, steam room and gym (a small additional charge applies), and there's a splash area with water jets to entertain the kids. Or set off angling instead at one of the five private fishing lakes, to bag a monster carp (24-pounders aren't unknown here). More? Kids can bounce around in the three dedicated play areas or explore the adventure zone in the woods, with activities such as pond dipping and bug hunting laid on in season; if it’s raining, there’s also a games room with amusements and a pool table. After these exertions, retire to the poolside patio of the Swan Inn for a refresher and a snack: the pub opens every night and serves up a good range of grub (breakfast and lunch are also available at weekends), plus regular entertainment including live bands, discos and karaoke in high season. Cofton also has its own fish and chip joint, as well as a shop for any vittles you might need. Wifi across the whole site (charges apply) means staying connected is simple, and it’s also worth mentioning that Cofton has excellent facilities for disabled visitors.

What customers say

Brilliant site, spotless with great facilities & roomy pitches. Loads for all ages - pools, entertainment, and lovely staff. Mostly top-notch, just a few small grumbles: iffy Wi-Fi, pricey extras, and a bit of noise sometimes. Well-kept, grand holiday spot.

Electric grass pitch

Liked From start to finish perfect …reception was very welcoming and explained everything to us ..then a young person took us to our pitch who was friendly and very polite and gave us a choice of pitch as I have heart failure ..the toilets/ shower block was super clean and I did see the housekeepers and I told them they do an excellent job ..the pitches where constantly being cleaned and attended to .. we walked around the complex it felt very safe (we even did a night walk ) and well lit .. it had literally everything you could ask for a lovely little shop with great prices and everything you could possibly need .. a fish and chip shop pizza shop laundrette and even a tackle shop where you could buy items for fishing in the many lakes around the complex .. there was even a public telephone which you could use ..there was so much to do for children plenty of free play parks and an outside pool for adults and children all free ..and also some things you pay for including a indoor pool with classes for children nature trail and lots of other things all very reasonably priced .. there is a paddock with a horse goat and donkeys .. also plenty of classes for adults and children’s in the complex ..we had meals in the restaurant along with cake and coffee and all the food was very enjoyable and the staff could not do enough for you and all for a great price .. there was an amusement arcade with a small bowling alley and a pool table also plenty of activities for children including a free soft play area and bingo discos and live acts all for adults .. there are plenty of buses aswell to other areas ..although the site was big it was quiet every person that works in this complex was very friendly and helpful this is the best site in both Devon and Cornwall

RV fully-serviced hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Very clean and well organised. Super sized pitch. Very good restaurant. Huge outside pool and a large inside one as well. Plenty for the younger members.
We were very impressed in all ways.

Disliked Surprised to only find one elsan disposable point. Could do with more. Free WIFI would be good.

9 metre fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding touring pitch (super, premium)

Liked Site clean and well presented. Pitch was level and clean with ample room for the caravan and car parking.

Showers and toilet blocks were clean and well presented.

Note site is built on a hillside and is not really disable friendly.

We don't have young children but we could see the site was well facilitated for younger kids - swimming pool etc.

Cannot comment on site shops / restaurant's etc as we did not use them due to poor reviews we had read online. Prices also appeared very steep.

Disliked Bit of a grumpy /borderline arrogant reception young lady, not the greatest of greetings.

Water pressure was way too high causing damage to three of my hose fittings. Simply turning the tap down as suggested does not distract the fact the pressure would still be present, this just reduces the flow.

MAC electric system is poor. Electric went off on our second day, took a couple of hours to resolve. Did not use all electric but refund has still yet to be received. although no issue to us some other people at site said they were confused on how it all worked.

Too few elsan points, we had quite a walk to empty our toilet cassette, down and up a steep hill.

Noisy road traffic all night as we were pitched near the main road.

Privacy issue with static bedroom window looking directly into our pitched van.

We were unable to access the arcade areas etc. as there did not appear to be disabled parking and access. Too steep to use a wheelchair from where we were pitched and stone / gravel access from top car park, again not wheelchair friendly.

Roads leading to / from the site can be narrow and tricky to get through as we found when encountering a HGV in Dawlish Warren (not the sites fault but one to consider if you are new to towing).

Electric grass pitch

Liked Access to the main area from the campsite grounds, showers and toilets facilities really clean. Areas to pitch the tent are spacious too. We paid for WiFi access whilst staying in the orchard field and signal strength was really strong.

Food from the onsite chippy was amazing! Good portion sizes too.

Didn't fish the lakes as opted for sea fishing but took a walk around. All really accessible for any angler of any level, pegs well maintained and loads to choose from.

Disliked Shower water temp was pretty hot! Couldn't stand under it for too long, although I do prefer cooler showers.

8 meter fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding touring pitch (super)

Liked Lovely place, highly recommend staff very friendly and so helpfully when needed, clean and plentiful facilities onsite, went for a couple of days ended up staying the full week as local transport got us where we wanted to visit.

Disliked Electric and wifi are both payable separate although not overly expensive, it would suit more if this was included in price of pitch (S/P) as i couldn't pay online for some reason so had to go to office numerous times to sort.
