  • Countryside park on 500 acres, 15 minutes' drive from Woolacombe
  • Woodland walks, nature trails, pool and riding centre on site
  • Two on-site bars and a takeaway; play park and miniature golf
Life’s little stresses getting you down? Want to stow yourself away for a countryside break where everything is close to your pitch? Come along to Combe Martin’s Stowford Farm Meadows in north Devon for a bit of de-stressing in a rural setting: the park is a mile from the main road down its own private drive and is a well-placed base from which to explore the best of Devon. Set among 500 acres of Devon woodland and meadows, Stowford Farm Meadows falls into the category of ‘very large’ sites – but fear not if your tastes tend towards the more solitary, as the park is divided into five separate fields and feels like several small sites rolled into one. The overall size means there are heaps of facilities and activities for you to try your hand at, from cantering around on horseback with the help of the on-site riding centre, to driving the kids crazy with your swish moves at the crazy golf. Looking for something a bit quieter? There are marked woodland walks into the wildlife-rich Bittadon valley, with nature trails starting and finishing on site. A heated indoor pool is available for a small extra charge. For putting feet up or letting hair down, the site has two bars (with evening entertainment in peak season) and an on-site takeaway. For supplies, Stowford Farm Meadows has a licensed, well-stocked shop and for your caravan and camping accessories. And finally? Even the dog will de-stress here, with a friendly welcome and a spacious dog-walking area on site…

What customers say

A grand, well-kept site with loads of facilities, from a pool to shops. Praised for its spotless loos & showers, and roomy pitches. Staff are dead sound. Some found bits dated or had a few quid extra for swimming, plus dodgy WiFi. Great spot for exploring North Devon.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked There is a lot for children to do to keep them entertained.
Facilities kept very clean.
Park wardens do a great job in keeping everything in line for a great, easy holiday.

Disliked Depending on where you are camping, the shower facilities can be quite a walk away. With having young children it can be a little inconvenient to walk. Would be beneficial if families with younger children could be placed closer to facilities.

Camping pod

Liked Lovelly clean accommodation with good toilet and shower facilities with in walking reach. Our accommodation was comfortable as we stayed in the the glamping pods which were spacious.

Lots of things to do on site with a swimming pool, park, horse riding and bars.

The site is in a good location with lots of things within a short driving distance.

Disliked Our only downside there was no information for the opening times for the shop and the fish and chip shop. After being out all day we was hoping to have a chippy but due to it being closed on a Friday evening we had to go back out and find food else where

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Big pitches
Great location for great North Devon beaches.

Disliked It was a very big site, very noisy at night, no one policing the bad behaviour, loud group parties. The bathroom facilities were filthy and not regularly cleaned. The kitchen had only 1 sink with a plug which was annoying. There was only one working washing machine which was really annoying with big queues to use it. You had to walk miles back to reception to get tokens to use it.
Rubbish WiFi that you had to pay for. £15 for the week. It would have been over £20 for our family to use the pool so we didn’t bother.

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked Lovely pitch, clean toilets and showers. Good location.

Disliked Considering it was the school summer holidays, the opening times for the bar and pool were limited. It would have been useful if on arrival we were provided with an opening times information as it was a bit erratic.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Really good site with all modern facilities compared to other sites I have previously visited. Has a lot of potential and ideal for families as there’s lots of kids to do.

Disliked The lack of entertainment in the evenings. This is more for adults but there needs to be a balance. Given the site is in the middle of most places nearby, they really could do more here.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Just about everything! Lovely location, facilities and wasnt too busy even during peak school summer holidays. Some nice extras to do like swimming, crazy golf, pitch and put. 2 x pubs and entertainment on site and a real mix of animals, magic, music.

Disliked Our only dislike was that there seemed to be an infestation of wasps! We saw literally dozens of the things both where we pitched up but also around the pub area. Not sure if that was just seasonal or if there is a nest somewhere (or multiple) which needs sorting out.

The only other small grumble is that you have to pay for Wifi, and things like the crazy golf which could be foc.

Local attractions

The highlights of north Devon are a pebble throw away, with Combe Martin on the doorstep and the famed harbour and seafront of Ilfracombe a few miles away (if you forget your wetsuit, the clever sorts at Stowford sell them in the on-site shop). Take little monsters to the animatronic dinosaurs, train ride and 250 species of wildlife at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park where they can help feed the lions or see the birds of prey, or along to Exmoor Zoo for yet more specis to see. Not thrilling enough? Let them see stars at the Milky Way Adventure Park with the tallest rollercoaster in Devon, or whirl about the rides and play areas of The Big Sheep.
