  • Family-run site in a New Forest hamlet next to a popular pub
  • Fordingbridge river swims three minutes' drive; Bournemouth 25 mins
  • Morning coffee and pastries on site, plus evening pizzas
The Hampshire hamlet of Frogham's a dandy spot indeed – miles of forest trails and an award-winning local pub? Yes please…  Frogham also has Harry's Field to its name, a small and friendly site where outdoor holidays are something of a family affair – three generations of the same clan have lived next door for more than 40 years (you’ll pass Grandad Harry’s cottage on the way into the park). The site, circled by hedgerows buzzing with birds, is surrounded by the New Forest, where shaggy ponies roam free. A country pub with a good selection of food and real ales is just a couple of minutes' walk away, and the site itself serves up barista coffee and pastries in the morning, with stone-baked pizzas in the evening. There's also good news for those travelling with pets, too: both Harry's Field and the local pub are dog-friendly destinations.  In the evening, you're welcome to light up a barbecue or campfire (perhaps with a Harry's cocktail in hand too?), or you can set forth for the small town of Fordingbridge (five minutes’ drive) for numerous eateries that will stave off the hunger. To work up an appetite for all this, take to the nearby forest trails and get walking, or take a bracing swim – there's river access for dipping about three minutes' drive away.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Well prepared and stocked for weekend campers. Information given before the stay was excellent. Particuarly no bbq's after the really dry spell.
The campsite with excellent for young children, really safe and like minded campers.
We liked the close access to the forest and the pub next door.

Local attractions

The whole of the New Forest's renowned for its walking and cycle trails, and the area around Frogham's no exception. Many of the tracks in this part of the forest pass well-known pubs: ask the Harry's Field team for their top tips on refuelling stops. Rather get around by hoof? A local riding stables is a few minutes' drive from the park. Ready to rock those jelly shoes? It's a doddle to get between here and the coast, with top beaches at Bournemouth (25 minutes), Mudeford (35 minutes) and Hengistbury Head (40 minutes) all within easy reach. Other popular seaside spots include Poole Harbour (40 minutes) and Brownsea Island (40 minutes plus a short ferry ride); head to the latter for a chance to see red squirrels in the wild. Nippers hankering after a change from the outdoorsy stuff? Head to Paultons Park, home of Peppa Pig World (30 minutes) or pay a visit to the critters at Marwell Zoo (40 minutes) to mix things up a bit.
