Entrance onto the site from the farm driveway

General

  • Adults-only peaceful and scenic site on a fruit farm in the High Weald
  • A 30-minute drive from Hastings, 40 minutes from Royal Tunbridge Wells
  • Café, farm shop, yoga, kayaking, wild swimming and spa treatments

For hols where leaving the site will be hardly necessary, you can’t go wrong with Quarry Farm in East Sussex – the adults-only spot just outside the village of Bodiam will be sure to keep guests of all stripes busy and entertained during stays.

At the on-site café and farm shop (the Hub), guests can of course partake in locally sourced eats, and spend time poring over shelves of artworks, pottery and fresh produce, but it’s in the extra-curriculars where the Hub really shines…

In need of some relaxation? Wander along to the wellness centre for yoga, Pilates, spa treatments or a massage. Want to be more active? Try paddleboarding, kayaking, foraging, wild swimming or triathlon training. The site team also has contacts in the area who can help set up classes on everything from ceramics to wild cocktail creation.

If a change of scenery is needed somehow, plenty hereabouts will entice. The site is on a fruit farm in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so it should come as no surprise that myriad paths and trails to follow are within easy reach, starting with a five-minute ramble across fields to the Kent and East Sussex Railway station in Bodiam from where guests can catch the steam train to Tenterden.

Please note

This site has no on-site toilet and shower facilities.

Tents are not accepted at this park.

Guests under the age of 21 are not allowed on site.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

This site is in a great location, an easy walk to Bodiam Castle and the local pub but away from roads so very quiet. There are no set pitches so everyone has plenty of space. The owner was friendly and very knowledgable about the local area. It’s a great base to explore this beautiful part of the country.

Delightful spot and we thoroughly enjoyed our two nights in our campervan. View of Bodiam Castle and the restored steam railway nearby. Water sports (kayaking/SUP) on site. We did the local circular walk (5 miles) - lovely countryside. The farm owner John was friendly and helpful and looks after the site well - all clean and tidy. We even got a couple of freebie bottles of his own make (John Boy's) cider which was excellent. Will definitely return - thank you John

    Disliked:

I have only marked down WIFI because we couldn't find any and mobile signals were weak (but usable). 'Child friendliness' is irrelevant as the field we were in was adults only - though there were plenty of very good facilities elsewhere on the farm.

No pitched marked. We parked up, then the owner had a passive aggressive rant at us that we should have parked in a different orientation. If he had bothered to be on site as people were arriving then he could have informed us then. This ruined our weekend, and we won't be back.
There's a much bigger, friendlier campsite by the river at Quarry Farm. We'll be trying that one next summer.

Nice and quiet. Laid back owner with his own cider for sale.
Close proximity to the facilities at The Hub and also a nice riverside walk to Bodiam Castle.
Great site to simply chill out and relax if you want or make use of the surrounding countryside to run, cycle or enjoy various water based activities such as paddle boarding or kayaking.

    Disliked:

It’s all grass so could get boggy with a lot of rain.

It was nice to able to choose where to pitch and the whole site is flat/level. It's very peaceful at night- lots of owls around.

Local attractions

Deep in 1066 country and the High Weald, this is a prime destination for history buffs. It’s less than 20 minutes’ drive from base to Battle Abbey and the 1066 battlefield, where guests can explore the visitor centre, clamber around the abbey ruins, stroll in the walled garden and learn all about medieval fighting.

If that’s just whet appetites for more, take a step closer to the present day by exploring some of the many stately manors and pretty gardens hereabouts: it’s a five-minute drive (or less than 20 minutes’ walk) to the 14th-century Bodiam Castle, and Great Dixter House and Gardens, Bateman’s, Scotney Castle, Herstmonceux Castle and Camber Castle are all within half an hour.

When hols require jaunts to the beach, guests will be spoiled for choice… It’s about 35 minutes to the coast and to watersports on sandy stretches like Camber Sands (windsurfing) and Cooden beach (jetskiing). It’s also around half an hour to Hastings where a sandy beach stretches along the seafront, and amusement parks, museums, caves and an aquarium will all vie for attention.

For a break from salt-filled breezes, turn inland instead with a trip to Royal Tunbridge Wells for shopping, museums, gardens and lots more history, or wrap up hols on a cheery note with a trip to Sedlescombe Organic Vineyard (five minutes from base) for a drink or two.
