General

  • Spacious working farm site on the Kent and East Sussex border
  • Half an hour’s drive from Camber Sands
  • Campfires, pick your own pitches, maze and adventure playground

Pitch up at Park Farm Caravan and Camping for pitchside campfires galore plus piles of spectacular wide open space around which to cycle, fly kites and let the kids (and dogs) run wild.

Set on a working farm in a peaceful rural spot on the border between Kent and East Sussex, this site is bordered by a little river and surrounded by miles upon miles of handsome countryside; for days out off site, the swell little seaside resort of Camber Sands is a handy half an hour’s drive away, and attractions like the Kent and Sussex Railway, Bodiam Castle and Bedgebury Pinetum are within a short drive too.

Back at base, there’s heaps of stuff to keep guests of all ages amply amused all day long, like a maize maze to get thoroughly lost in and free fishing into the neighbouring river direct from the site.

For kids there’s a partially fenced adventure playground with a trim trail, a play fort and a big slide for small folk to let off steam at. For rainy day, the open-sided barn is furnished with more fun-based bits, like a seesaw and other kit and games.

When peckish or thirsty head over to the site’s so-called ‘barn on wheels’ – out of its hatch are served drinks and locally sourced produce. Otherwise, head to the neighbouring pub for a feed or an afternoon pint of guest ale.

After a feed, it’s a splendid idea to have an amble around the farm to goggle its resident cows, sheep, donkeys and horses. The site owners actively maintain natural habitats to keep local wildlife happy, so while out and walking around one might well catch sight of some native critters too, from deer, barn owls and lots of other bird species to plenty of butterflies and insects.

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Excellent wild camping. Just how it should be 06/20/2018

Found the staff very helpful and the site was clean. Toilets were spotless. I love the fact the tractor comes round with lots for the fires and rubbish, so if you're up the top you haven't got to go far. Having real fires is a bonus, and the free size pitches are a bonus. Pitches are flat too. It's only 20 a night and I've already booked to go back. It's how camping should be!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the campsite, all the amenities anyone could ask for, best of all was the site shop which saved the day with milk available for my morning coffee!
Very well serviced: logs available to buy for campfires, clean toilets and washrooms.
For those with family, the campsite is very child friendly with a playground and even a covered play area for those all too familiar rainy English camping trips.
Although when we visited it was full of Children and families we were still able to find a nice quiet area backing out on to fields of wheat.
The local area has a beautiful National Trust site Bodiam Castle and there are plenty of vineyards in the area offering tours, tasters and wine to buy.
Thoroughly recommend the campsite and area, we had a great time and will be back soon!

Booked through pitch up.com for the first time and after booking and paying deposit was emailed by Park Farm saying you had let me book a pitch that wasn't available. Eventually they fitted us in after a cancellation so will just book direct next time.

Good play park and room for kids to ride bikes. Most staff helpful.Campfires

    Disliked:

Only one toilet block which was swept regularly but could have done with a mop. Unless right on top of showers/toilets/washup it was a fair trek. Not enough showers/washup facilities need more spread round site.
One of the male staff could be overly abrupt with the children.

Local attractions

The plentiful paths that lie around the site also link up with other local footpaths, like the one that runs beside the river to Bodiam Castle, about 20 minutes’ amble away.

At Bewl Water you can go sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and cycling, or you can head to the
shingle stretches at Camber Sands for windsurfing and jetskiing at Cooden beach near Bexhill. If angling’s more your sort of water-based pursuit, fish free of charge for chub and roach from the site, or head to the nearby fish farm.

For a spot of local history, visit National Trust properties like Sissinghurst Castle, Cranbrook, Smallhythe Place, Scotney Castle and Batemans; should you instead fancy being ferried around, all aboard at Bodiam the Kent and East Sussex Railway.
