What customers say
A nice spot by the canal, with plenty of space. Owners are praised for being grand and helpful, with flat pitches handy for local shops and strolls. Facilities are basic but mostly clean. Some found the noise from others a bit much and the showers could be brassic. Good value generally, but rules aren't always followed and loos are basic.

Thoroughly enjoyable overnight stay minimal room for improvement
Electric grass touring pitch
Liked Open field
Pick your own pitch
Basic but... electric, plenty of water points, adequate bins and hot coals disposal and chemical toilet disposal, site toilets with wash basin and shower.
Open fires and BBQs allowed
Fabulously attentive owners
Peaceful site and excellent surrounding area
We were lucky enough to have a clear sky and so with minimal light pollution made for a fabulous experience for amateur stargazing
Disliked The toilet and shower block could do with expanding and smartening up; not much leg room in the cubicles only one shower per gender, no disabled access and no hand rails for those with challenged mobility, better lighting inside and out would be an improvement.

The scenery and a little park…
Non-electric grass touring pitch
Liked The scenery and a little park which my granddaughter used.
The owner seems ok he came and introduced himself.
Disliked The toilets/showers are a bit tatty. Rubbish left from people all over the site was woken up at half 6 in morning by possibly a jcb behind field what kept bleeping reversing and the banging from the works behind the field. Dogs should be kept on leads we had ours on leads at all times .

Our first time camping, the owner…
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Our first time camping, the owner was lovely and really helpful. Everywhere was clean and tidy. Small play equipment in the centre was perfect for young children (suited my 4 & 5 year old).
Disliked Dogs not on lead wandering around the site. This was obviously from a particular group of campers but it was very irritating.

On the waters edge…
Non-electric grass touring pitch
Liked On the waters edge
Disliked Upon arrival I was greeted by the owner, comfirmed details and I said the other car was a few mins behind. He said 'another tent?'. I explained no, 1 tent, 2 cars (as per booking). He said they was busy today and pointed to an area to use, then walked away. It was busy, but not a problem. Not long after a large family returned and the music started. It could be heard from all across the site. Walking to the facilities at the other end it could still be heard & was then drowned out by others music. We thought everyone's on holiday, kids are playing having fun and we went off out. We used our kayak on the canal and ended up with a pub stop. When we arrived back the music was still going but by now it seems the drinks were kicking in and the language infront of and when talking to children was disgusting. F'ing this and f'ing that amongst other words. Again we thought let's do our own thing and make the most of our stay. As darkness fell the intensity increased, people shouting, kids screaming, music blasting and lights flashing across the field. I understand kids will be kids and will play lmbut it appeared the kids weren't being watched, many running around hitting each other, running over to other people's set ups, kicking balls into people's tents, then you'll hear someone scream at the kids to get back despite an hour or so passing of this going on. The flashing light was bouncing off everyone's tents. These where all seperate families. If it was one group it could be tolerated but it wasn't, out of the fully booked site, possibly half or a 3rd were behaving in this way and not seeing this as a problem, which it became for us. It was unbearable to the point we couldn't hear each other talking properly when on our own pitch. It got to 11pm and nothing was quietening down, the intensity was the same, screaming, shouting, lights flashing etc. We wanted to head to bed but our 13 yo said he couldn't sleep with all the noise so after some deliberation we left our stuff and took 1 of the cars and drove home. Today we returned to pack up and we have booked on to another site for our second night away. When we got there the family to our left was telling us how the music kept blasting till the early hours and only quietened after this but said the chat went on for hours.
We couldnt bare to stay that we chose to drive an hour home to only return and pack up to make our onward journey. The owner wasn't seen other than when we arrived and the house at the back next to the site would obviously be able to hear all the noise unless they had soundproofing so we had no hope of anything being reinforced to keep the noise down on a 2nd night. None of us by any means are arrogant or prude and happy to accept noise and kids playing but this was far past anything acceptable. We are campers, we know what to expect but I cannot stress enough how awful this stay was to the point we left.
I had read the reviews before coming, and after reading a mixed bag I thought it'll all depend on who is there on the day, and like I mentioned this wasn't 1 family, it was several across the field. Those who had a nice stay I wish I had the same experience. The site was quieter when we arrived as many people where packing up but there was a few still that remained who caused the noise the night before and this reassured us that we had made the right decision to continue on. There is no excuse for that kind of behaviour. It's all fine in moderation and with consideration for others. After camping for several weeks during the summer at a variety of sites I have to say this is one for sure we won't be returning to. It's a shame also as the pub will loose our business also as we booked in for a Sunday roast but didn't stay to enjoy this. If you want a party campsite, with noise going on all day and all night, kids screaming and the adults too then this site is for you. If you're wanting a relaxing break away, please think again.
Toilets where small but clean.

It’s a shame but we wouldn’t stay again unless things changed.
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked The area. Toilet and shower was clean but small
Disliked The unorganised pitch set up. The incessant noise till 1 am of not only one family but numerous selfish people with music bum bum bum into the night. Kids out and about till 1 am. No one telling them to be quiet. Not for us! I like people to have fun but not at the expense of others. We booked and payed for 2 nights. Only stayed 1.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Good level pitch, toilets were very clean and well stocked. Nice location by the canal. Ian was friendly and greeted us when we arrived. Fire pits are allowed which is a bonus. Didn’t have a kayak/paddle board but that would be a good thing to do with the canal. A nice stay overall.
Disliked Luck of the draw really but first night noisy family music and chatting until the small hours very little sleep. 2nd night families much more considerate of other campers. Not a criticism though just the way it is during the busier times of year I’m sure. Adjacent to a working farm too so early wake up call- so not much chance of over sleeping!
