Disliked: TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE !!!
Was walking my dogs Beagle & Dachshund both well behaved and on leads. Then a huge German shepherd which was just roaming around not on lead dog’s owner nowhere to be seen came over and attacked my beagle . This attack lasted several minutes where I was trying to get the dog off mine. Got dog off eventually, owner came out eventually didn’t even come over just waited for his dog to come back, then started swearing at me and puffing his chest out ready to fight. I told him his dog attacked mine, who was limping badly. Went down to complain think his name was David who I spoke to, seemed a bit inconvenienced, told him what had happened. He then went up to caravan were dog was and said “ think you’ve had a bit of an “altercation” there was no altercation his dog attacked mine. He then walked away and sat on bench on his phone, I asked if he could get details of owner or I would go over and get details, he just said “ go to your tent” I’m 60yrs old not 6 . Didn’t ask if my dog was ok which he wasn’t didn’t ask if I was ok which I was pretty shaken, nothing. There were children playing next to we’re this happened could of been a potential disaster. So if you love your dog DO NOT go to this campsite , as I’m know left with hefty vet bill !!!

From the manager: Hi there Mr Tracey,
Thank you for your rage review. In response:
1. Our policy is that all dogs are kept on leads at all times unless in the enclosed dog walking area. Anyone found in breach of this rule will be reminded. Anyone repeatedly breaching this rule will be removed from site.
2. As soon as you notified me, I went and spoke to the owner who appeared as agitated as you were, but slightly more red in the face. I guessed there was a high probability that given the hot sun and the liklihood of alcohol consumption that this was not a 'let's have a debate' moment. He agreed to take the dog inside for the night. I also explained that I had advised you that if you felt it necessary to report it to the police and I would have to give them his details, which we have done before. I also explained this to you. Further, I took details of the vehicle registrations in case there was a dispute as to whose dog it was. Further still, as there appeared to be arguing between a male and a female in the said caravan, I waited around for a while to ensure the police did not need to be called. This is when I "sat on the bench and looked at my phone". Getting the binoculars out may have been a bit suspect.
3. Beyond the above, I expect you would have preferred me to have kicked in said camper's door, round-house kicked him in the head and summarily executed his dog. This may surprise you but escalating a situation rarely helps.
4. As to me telling you to "go to your tent" there was definately a "please" in there. The reason I asked this was because you were clearly upset and wanted to stand behind me with your dogs whilst I spoke to the other camper with his Alsation. Me in the middle of two angry blokes with dogs - what could go wrong?
5. As to not caring about your dog, I cannot honestly remember what I said. You had walked up and down the site with him without issue and I asked where he had been bitten as I could not see the dog was in any distress, nor was their any blood or bite marks. You advised that you were not sure but would speak to a vet so there's little more I could do for you there.
In summary, you're upset as a result of another campers' conduct but don't have his contact details to rage message him so you're taking it out on us. Thank you for confirming we have nice views and I hope your dog is okay.
All the best.
Cheers,
D

Liked: Our first family camping trip and we absolutely loved this place. As soon as we drove in we knew we were in for a good thing. Really clean well maintained. Showers and toilets spotless. Everything from booking was easy and well communicated. You can tell there is pride taken in this campsite and it shows through. Even had fresh pizza made onsite. The owners were really helpful from start to finish, honestly the only thing I worry about is have we peaked on our first trip lol. Thanks so much !
Disliked: Absolutely nothing. It was a great place.. We will definitely be back!

Liked: Lovely site, large pitches. Camp was lovely and clean. Toilets and showers were immaculate and well maintained throughout our stay.
Pizzas on Saturday night were delicious. Easy to order items online and rapid response from owners with any queries. Firepits we brilliant.
Highly recommend this site and will be returning
Disliked: Not really a dislike but would enhance the site if there was a play area for the kids.
10pm noise limit-most sites we have visited have been 11pm. Not too much of an issue, just by the time fire pit got properly going we were conscious of the time which affected atmosphere especially as we were camping with friends, although this would not stop us from rebooking
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: Hi there,
Thanks for the review.
On the noise limit time I would say a) we’re re a quiet site anyway and b) if you give one inch, people generally take two.
The campers we had this weekend were lovely and considerate and there were zero complaints.
Last bank holiday weekend I gave campers till 10.30pm and one group was screaming and causing complaints till around 11pm. It always takes a while to calm campers down after they’ve got all excited and had a drink.
As much as I like watching the stars at night (or more commonly a ufo documentary to scare the shiznit out of myself) I don’t really want to set a noise limit of 11pm and have to wait up till midnight every weekend hoping that I won’t get any noise complaints after I’ve gone to bed.
I also explain that I don’t care what time campers stay out till so long as they’re quiet. It’s not unreasonable.
Hope that makes sense.
Cheers

Liked: We were looking for a quiet, compact site for a reintroduction to camping. Marbury Camp & Lodge ticked those boxes and then some.
David was very welcoming, popping over once we were pitched to check that we were happy and if we had any questions. Our pitch was generous in size and gave us beautiful views of the countryside and wildlife (and the illuminated oak tree at night!).
The facilities were spotless, grass and roads well maintained, and there is clear signage throughout the site. The enclosed dog walking field near the entrance was very handy. The “Pizza Baa” (open most Saturday evenings), was a brilliant feature. David’s pizzas are delicious!
It is clear that David and his family take great pride in their site. They listen to their visitors and work hard to provide an excellent site. We would happily visit again and will be recommending to our family and friends.

Electric optional grass tent pitch
Liked: Just returned from this site and stayed an extra night as we liked it so much.
Beautiful setting with fabulous views in all directions, very peaceful, immaculate facilities, great dog walking field, lots of open space for children to play, large pitches with a picnic table on each pitch, firepits for hire, only a few miles to Whitchurch for shopping and restaurants and close to the canal for walks. This was our first time at this site but it is now one of our favourites and we will be back again and again
Disliked: Not a dislike but bins near to the camping field would be really handy
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: Really appreciate the review.
As to the bins, they were originally 1100litre plastic bins at the top of the site but a) campers
repeatedly dumped mattresses, full tents, chairs etc in them and so filled them in an afternoon (and we only have fortnightly collections) and b) quite commonly set them on fire by disposing of still burning cheap bbqs and fire pits.
The 12 cubic yard at the entrance to the site is still occasionally set on fire but it’s metal which helps, and campers usually struggle to carry burning hot ash down the hill without realising it’s still on fire. It’s also too big and ugly to have at the top of the site, and not safe for a bin lorry to come up to the top where there are kids playing. If I am about I will happily transport your rubbish in the buggy.
Cheers
