What customers say

A tranquil, tidy site with lovely owners. Praised for clean, hot showers. Great views for stargazing. Facilities are basic but good value. Spacious pitches suit groups, though a proper washing-up spot would be a bonus.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Peaceful site with beautiful sunsets and perfect for stargazing at night. Susan the owner was warm and welcoming, checking us in on arrival and then checking in on us throughout our two week stay.

Shower is lovely and hot and toilet facilities are clean and tidy.

We visited outside of school holidays and bank holidays so there was plenty of space to sit and enjoy the quiet.

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked nice area

Disliked Very basic facilities. A very old towed toilet/shower unit with only one shower and two cubicles. The place has potential if they invest in proper facilities.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely basic campsite. Owner was lovely, she even lent me a camping chair as my inflatable one burst!
Great location for a day out to Corbridge and a visit to Brockbushes farm
Good phone service
Lovely sunsets

Disliked Shower could have been cleaner, however I understand it will get muddy with being on a field.
A few wasps which were annoying however can’t be helped with the weather
Some noise from other campers late evening, this didn’t bother us but might for families.
The road works outside of the site were dangerous, there should be lights also at the gate of the site for people coming and going as we almost drove into oncoming traffic!, again no fault of the owner

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked An absolutely beautiful and peaceful site. The hosts were wonderfully friendly and welcoming and we thought it very reasonably priced. The facilities, whilst basic, were perfectly adequate for a back to basics family camping trip

Disliked Not a dislike as such but the entrance to the site was difficult to find from the road. This was perhaps down to the temporary traffic lights on the road which of course is not under the site managements control

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much Gemma, It was lovely to meet you xx

Quite expensive for what it is a big field with little facilities,

Local attractions

Northumberland is rich in history, stretching back to Roman times with the remains of Hadrian’s Wall (half an hour’s drive) and exhibitions at museums including the Roman Army Museum (40 minutes). Mighty medieval Alnwick Castle (an hour) has sumptuous apartments, Harry Potter film locations and poison gardens to explore, while National Trust - Cragside (40 minutes) has woodland walks (great in early summer for rhododendrons) and a mock-Gothic interior. Another fascinating day out can be had at Beamish, the Living Museum of the North (half an hour) – pick a fine day to take a trip on an open-top tram or visit pit ponies in their stables. Get out and about in glorious Northumberland air at Kielder Water and Forest Park (half an hour), where you can cycle through woodland or walk around the reservoir – look out for the contemporary sculpture among the trees, and keep an eye peeled for elusive red squirrels. The skies above the park are the darkest in the UK, so linger on clear nights to see the Milky Way, or book a tour of Kielder Observatory (an hour).
