What customers say
Grand spot, spotless facilities, and the staff are pure sound. Lovely grounds for a wander, and the shop/cafe is a doddle. Mostly great, though a couple reckon the pitches are a bit close and the water points could be handier. A peaceful, well-run place plenty are keen to revisit.

Electric optional hardstanding motorhome pitch (large)
Liked Nice size pitches but would have been nice to have had a small bit of grass aswell to let the dogs out to lie on.
Showers were ok. Annoying having to keep pushing the button in to keep them running.
Disliked Washing machines expensive. Having to pay £4 for a dryer regardless of how long you wanted to use it. I only needed about 20 minutes but had to pay £4 for an hour as a minimum payment.
Showers dont have temperature control.

Lovely but due to the cold we didn’t get the best experience.
Meadow shepherd's hut
Liked The views were lovely.
It was great not having to leave the hut for the toilet.
The very much needed log burner was a god send!
Disliked I am aware it’s expected to be small but there was no where to store non fridge items such as bread, biscuits etc. We had to jig around things on the shelves to make some space and keep the rest in bags on the floor.
Small things could be added to the hut such as a few extra hooks, a small fold up table to eat from and a dust pan and brush. The grass was cut shortly after we arrived and was damp so the grass was trailed in the hut constantly, this got everywhere and we had nothing to sweep it out with.
The heater kept going off with an error code.
The windows didn’t seem to close fully so there was a constant draft and it was nearing freezing overnight.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your stay in one of our shepherd’s huts. We’re glad you enjoyed the beautiful views and the toilet and shower facilities
As you noted, the huts are compact, but they are carefully designed to make the best use of space, with shelving and cupboards for storage. Many guests comment on how well-equipped and comfortable they are. It can often mean just a little rearranging to ensure your things fit well although with 2 adults, a teenager and 2 dogs you would have to be very organised.
The electric heater in your hut is in perfect working order and includes a safety and eco cut-off to prevent overheating or energy waste. This can activate if the heater is left running constantly on a high setting or if a sudden temperature change occurs — for example, when the hut becomes overheated after leaving it on all day when out and the door is then opened.
Following your comments, we checked the window catches and found they were simply a little stiff. A quick oil and adjustment soon sorted this, and as always, we’re happy to resolve such things immediately if guests let us know during their stay.
We also appreciate that you have agreed to return the phone/radio charger that you took with you when you left. Perhaps I could take this opportunity to remind you of that as we haven’t yet received it. We do occasionally find small items go missing which does impact on the next guests and was the case for you, as the dustpan and brush was missing. We apologise that we hadn’t noticed that on this occasion. We will continue to check between stays to ensure each hut is fully equipped.
We do ask guests to leave the huts tidy for the next visitors. On this occasion, our team needed extra time to prepare the hut after your stay, not just because of the grass. However, with two of us it was soon restored to the usual high standard our guests expect. We’re glad you enjoyed the setting
Excellent site - would 100% recommend
Electric optional hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch
Liked One of the best sites we have stayed at. Individual pitches, great views, friendly staff, clean facilities and close to Hadrian’s Wall. Communication was excellent before hand and on the day of arrival (we were delayed so missed check-in time). Pitches were well spaced and ours came with a picnic bench. The night sky is amazing as the site is in a dark skies area.
