Quarry Farm: Entrance to the site

General

  • Working farm site with spectacular views over the Vale of Pickering
  • Less than 30 minutes' drive to Scarborough seaside town
  • Pitches set on top of the hill, surrounded by flat green space

If you’re after sweeping countryside views, easy access to the coast and miles upon miles of outstanding natural beauty, this might just be the secluded North Yorkshire hideaway you've been hunting for.

In the spirit of keeping things simple, peaceful and back to nature, there’s no entertainment on site at Quarry Farm… just loads of wide open space and utterly spectacular views. The huge grassy area surrounding the pitches provides kids with more than ample space for football kicking, kite flying and galloping around with the friendly resident dogs, and the pitches are set on top of a hill for fab views across the Vale of Pickering – south facing too, for extra basking on sunny days.

Handily, all the pitches have hardstandings and have been equipped with electric hook-ups, a water tap and drainage; supplies (including gas cylinders) are available from the shop a mile away. When you fancy a break from the toils of the camping stove and decide you're done with driving for the day, Ebberston's local restaurant – also a mile away – is a good spot for an evening meal, and a pub is in the village too.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

Lovely campsite on a working farm. Absolutely beautiful views to wake up to. Dog-friendly which was great. The toilet block was incredible and super clean. The local pub The Grapes were so welcoming especially with our pup. Only a 15 min drive to Pickering where you can catch the train to Whitby. Would definitely recommend this site and would come again.

    Disliked:

This is a working farm! So it can be a bit noisy but we didn’t mind at all. When we turned up we were the first ones so we were a bit unsure where to pitch up but luckily a gentleman working on the farm popped over. We were pitched right at the end in the corner (due to trying to shelter from the strong wings when we set up) so we’re unable to connect to the Wi-Fi. But we wanted a phone free break anyway.

    Views are amazing!
Quiet site, easy driving distance of Scarborough, Whitby and Keldy forest
Great local pubs but need to drive as busy road with no pavement
Lovely bathrooms but they got very busy and only 2 so waiting was required, however the incredibly thoughtful owners did let us use their own loo on occasions when they found us hovering outside the bathrooms.

Ruined all our pegs as there was concrete or big stones/brick under the pitch. Took nearly an hour to get pegs in because every time we tried the only went 1/3 in

Local attractions

Stacks of natural attractions and outdoorsy options surround the farm, the first being the Dalby Forest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty around five miles away. As well as all the walking and cycling trails that network the forest floor, there's an activity centre with paintballing, airsoft, archery, tree climbing, orienteering and low ropes courses.

The farm is close to the Howardian Hills, which is crisscrossed by bridleways and quiet lanes for horse riding and on and off-road cycling. The 14-kilometre mountain bike route beginning at Coneysthorpe has splendid views to the north across the Vale of Pickering and beyond towards the North York Moors, and there are options for shorter rides along this route if you opt to use the bridlepaths around it.

Pickering's narrow little shopping streets, ancient castle and access to the famed North York Moors Steam Railway are eight miles from base, and the seaside towns of Scarborough and Filey are both within half an hour's drive.

Must see

  • Dalby Forest Visitor Centre (6.4 kilometres)
  • North Yorkshire Moors Railway (10.9 kilometres)
  • Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo (13.4 kilometres)
