  • Gated dog-friendly site on a farm five minutes’ drive from Pickering
  • North York Moors National Park five minutes’ drive; Whitby 35 minutes
  • Playful farmyard animals and picnic tables on site
On the outskirts of the market town of Pickering (five minutes’ drive or a 35-minute walk), Brigham Park Farm is a small, family-friendly site on a working farm. There are many things to commend it, not least its location: staying here puts you within an hour of several North Yorkshire attractions – from North York Moors National Park (five minutes) and the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (25 minutes), to a stretch of coastline with sandy expanses like Scarborough (35 minutes) and wildlife sanctuaries like RSPB Bempton Cliffs (55 minutes). Having established that there’ll be plenty to keep you and the brood (and the dog, who’s welcome here) occupied, you might be interested to know what’s on site. You’ll be sharing the grounds with assorted livestock, including inquisitive goats, which the children might enjoy feeding (food is available on request). There’s lots of room for children to chase each other and play tag or kick a ball around – but please ensure they keep to the area where there are no pitches. And if you’re concerned about security, it might relieve your worries to know that the premises are secure and gated. Amenities include a modern and well-maintained toilet and shower block and an outdoor area with picnic tables. Each pitch has a drinking water point. Don’t fancy looking after the campfire or the barbecue? The nearest pub (just over a five-minute walk away) runs themed nights, including Curry Thursdays and Fish Fridays, plus a Sunday carvery.

What customers say

A lovely spot for families! Owners are dead sound, facilities are spotless, and the farm animals, especially the goats and pigs, are a massive hit with the wee ones. Pitches are grand with all you need, and it’s well-placed for seeing the sights. Showers are a bit pokey, but everyone’s keen to come back. Secure entry is a bonus for parents.

Electric optional grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked We loved the little walk around the pigs, as they follow you around and they love a little back scratch, such a perfect place for what we wanted

Disliked There is nothing to dislike here. It would be nice to have a mop bucket near the showers on the left, just so you can leave it clean for the next person.

Electric optional grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Just returned from a lovely weekend stay with our children. Alas the weather wasn't on our side but we have still made some fantastic memories.
Plenty of room for children to play and discover nature. The site felt safe and secure, the owners were always around should you need anything and were only a phonecall or message away.
It certainly is a must visit if you have little ones who love animals. The pigs were definitely the highlight for us but the goats who came to visit in the evening were a very close second.
A central location to places like Pickering, Flamingo Land and the coast.
The facilities are basic but more than enough for a weekend break. Showers, toilets etc.
We will definitely be returning for another respite, hopefully when the sun decides to return.

Disliked Nothing besides my own personal preference. The pitches for me were a tiny bit close, I'd imagine when the weather improves and the site is fully booked it could be a little bit of a squeeze but this didn't negatively impact our experience of the site.

Electric optional grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked As my first ever camping experience and doing it solo (with my dog), I was a little apprehensive but from the second I arrived it was perfect! I could have happily stayed the week, showers and toilets were pristine! Took myself on a little stroll around early evening each night and it’s just all so peaceful! Pitches were great and simple to navigate.
Slight mishap with a dead car battery when I was all packed up but Sheree helped me straight away and a couple lads jump started my car no bother! Thank you so much!!
I’ll absolutely be visiting again and couldn’t recommend this spot for both new and experienced campers.
Handy to know:
There’s a vending machine for any treats and also a microwave if needed(I didn’t see that mentioned when I was viewing but handy to know in case you need it)
Phone signal was canny considering you’re in a field!

Electric optional grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked The family who owned the site were so nice and friendly, and it was so lovely to see them while feeding the animals every morning.
Loved being able to feed the goats and meet all the animals, you can tell they are so well cared for and so good with people.
The toilets and showers were very clean and tidy, and great to have a fridge and freezer in case you need it.
So family friendly, we don't have children but so lovely to see all of them playing together.
It was just a perfect weekend, we really didn't want to leave!

Disliked Nothing, can't wait to come back.

Electric optional grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Animals walking around the pitch (goats), nice owners/hosts, even pitches, grass pitches, water and electric by the pitch,

Disliked Old bathroom facilities, dirty showers and toilets, lack of toilet paper, blocked drainage in showers, sinks and toilets.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the review. As you can imagine, this is very disappointing for us to read especially after we had such a lovely chat with you onsite and both of you expressed how much you loved the site and hoped to return.
I can assure you that not at any point have we experienced blocked drainage in the showers sinks and toilets. We were made aware of a problem with the outdoor sink and it was resolved straight away. Had we have been informed you had an issue regarding cleanliness or lack of toilet paper then we would have resolved the issue for you immediately. Unfortunately it isn't physically possible to monitor the toilet block after every single person uses it, but i can assure you that the toilet and shower blocks were, and are, thoroughly cleaned multiple times a day and not at any point were any toilets without paper.

Thanks again,
the team at Brigham.

Electric optional grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked The site is very spacious with plenty of room on each pitch. The allowance for fire pits was a very nice touch. Each pitch has its own water and electric connection. The animals on the farm were very friendly and the kids had a great time going to visit them. The site owner was very friendly and helpful.

Disliked A hair dryer in the bathroom would have been helpful. Sometimes the bathroom was out of roll to dry your hands and it was a bit late in the evening to call the owner. Watch out for the goats when they smell you with a pizza outside your tent.

Electric optional grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Camp site was very clean & well maintained and had plenty electrical points to hook up to, also had taps at every pitch, the owners were very friendly and helpful. Found it quite amusing when their pet Goats were free to walk around the campsite stopping at all the guests pitches to say hi. Will definitely go camping there again.

Disliked The signage for the campsite entrance could be bigger as it's on a busy road and could be missed.

Local attractions

From Pickering you can catch the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a heritage train ride through the distinctive moorland landscape. Disembark at Goathland (which might look familiar if you’ve seen the first Harry Potter film) or ride all the way to the Whitby terminus. Flamingo Land Resort (10 minutes’ drive) has thrill rides like multi-looped roller coasters and vertiginous drop towers, plus family-friendly attractions like tractor rides and a soft-play area in the shape of a pirate ship. On hot days, the kids might be drawn to the water-play zone, and there’s also a zoo with penguins, lemurs and other animals. Whitby (35 minutes) is known for the hilltop remains of a 14th-century abbey, which is said to have inspired Bram Stoker to write Dracula. After visiting the house where Captain James Cook (of South Pacific exploration fame) lived as a young man (now a museum), make your way to the Whalebone Arch for views over the harbour.
