  • Gated dog-friendly site on a farm five minutes’ drive from Pickering
  • North York Moors National Park five minutes’ drive; Whitby 35 minutes
  • Playful farmyard animals and picnic tables on site
On the outskirts of the market town of Pickering (five minutes’ drive or a 35-minute walk), Brigham Park Farm is a small, family-friendly site on a working farm. There are many things to commend it, not least its location: staying here puts you within an hour of several North Yorkshire attractions – from North York Moors National Park (five minutes) and the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (25 minutes), to a stretch of coastline with sandy expanses like Scarborough (35 minutes) and wildlife sanctuaries like RSPB Bempton Cliffs (55 minutes). Having established that there’ll be plenty to keep you and the brood (and the dog, who’s welcome here) occupied, you might be interested to know what’s on site. You’ll be sharing the grounds with assorted livestock, including inquisitive goats, which the children might enjoy feeding (food is available on request). There’s lots of room for children to chase each other and play tag or kick a ball around – but please ensure they keep to the area where there are no pitches. And if you’re concerned about security, it might relieve your worries to know that the premises are secure and gated. Amenities include a modern and well-maintained toilet and shower block and an outdoor area with picnic tables. Each pitch has a drinking water point. Don’t fancy looking after the campfire or the barbecue? The nearest pub (just over a five-minute walk away) runs themed nights, including Curry Thursdays and Fish Fridays, plus a Sunday carvery.

What customers say

This family-friendly farm is loved for its friendly owners and abundant animals, a hit with kids. Spacious pitches have water & electric. Facilities are usually clean, though some showers are small. The secure, fenced site is great for safe play. Close to attractions and pubs. Expect some road noise and damp pitches in bad weather.

Power optional grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked We liked that it was safe for the children to play as cars had to be kept in the car park unless unpacking or packing your car. The pigs, chickens, horses and Bunny are a nice addition, the kids really enjoyed petting those. It was a nice trip with friends.

Disliked We were disappointed that upon arrival we were told we were unable to be pitched next to friends although we had mentioned this when we booked and in the week prior. This was our first camping trip as a family and it was made difficult being pitched across the field from our friends due to the sharing of items and difficulties for the children settling on an evening. It was unsettling for the dogs too being back and forth. The field was not full so we didn’t not understand why we had not been pitched together. There are strict rules in place for dogs being on a lead, however the owners dog is free to roam the field and foul wherever he likes - the owners did not clear this, another camper did in order to ensure it was safe for the children to play. It was unsettling for the dogs and unfair the period of time he was left roaming around everyone. We booked knowing there would be goats, we did not realise how long they would be left in the site on an evening, they were a little bit annoying, maybe letting them out for half an hour or so would have been better.

Power optional grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Lovely campsite, very family friendly. It is clean and tidy easy to navigate where things are on site. Friendly atmosphere.

Disliked It’s not a dislike more of a suggestion for a chair or small bench in the shower rooms.

Power optional grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Our daughter loved the animals. The goats, Pumpkin and Pickle were so funny, they ran off with our bread baps!
The facilities were clean, everything you need. The option to buy a fire pit was there too.
We will come back when we plan to go to Flamingo Land.

Liked Very friendly welcome on arrival by the lady owner who took us to our pitch and explained everything.
The site is secure.
Lovely and clean including the toilets and the showers.
There is lots of animals which our children loved especially when the goats came to see us while roaming.
The owners are always around if you require anything and the lady is great with the kids.
Loved the fact you get a fresh drinking water tap to each pitch.

Power optional grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Lovely small site (which we like)! The showers and toilets were really clean and there were lots of little extras like firepits/wood for hire, a vending machine for some essentials, a fridge and microwave. Brilliantly located for easy access to the East Coast/Flamingo Land etc. We will definitely return!

Local attractions

From Pickering you can catch the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a heritage train ride through the distinctive moorland landscape. Disembark at Goathland (which might look familiar if you’ve seen the first Harry Potter film) or ride all the way to the Whitby terminus. Flamingo Land Resort (10 minutes’ drive) has thrill rides like multi-looped roller coasters and vertiginous drop towers, plus family-friendly attractions like tractor rides and a soft-play area in the shape of a pirate ship. On hot days, the kids might be drawn to the water-play zone, and there’s also a zoo with penguins, lemurs and other animals. Whitby (35 minutes) is known for the hilltop remains of a 14th-century abbey, which is said to have inspired Bram Stoker to write Dracula. After visiting the house where Captain James Cook (of South Pacific exploration fame) lived as a young man (now a museum), make your way to the Whalebone Arch for views over the harbour.
