  • Adult-only pitches on a peaceful smallholding with a wooded area
  • A 15-minute drive to Beverley, 20 from Hull and 25 to Bridlington
  • Eggs, fruit, meat for sale on site; firewood provided by the owners
Farm days and secluded stays? West Field Farm Camping is a well-maintained adults-only site on a smallholding with a small wooded area, in remote location but within easy reach of urban and seaside days: Beverley is 15 minutes' drive form here, Hull is 20 and the coast at Bridlington within 25. There's loads to do in this East Yorkshire setting, such as fossil hunting at the pebbly and sandy shores of Mappleton 15 minutes’ drive away, or driving 20 minutes west to rifle the racks at the discount shops of Hornsea Freeport. Burton Constable Hall & Grounds, an Elizabethan country house with a busy events schedule, is 10 minutes from the farm. Back at base, there's a designated area for gathering around the campfire, with wood provided by the friendly owners as well as home-reared meats like bacon, burgers, steak and chops for sale. Within the shop, guests are free to use the designated fridge, microwave and hairdryer. There's plenty of space around the grassy grounds for lazing about too, and options to pick your own fruit in season at the big garden or collect eggs laid by the hens.

What customers say

Grand, quiet little farm site. Lovely, friendly owners. Great for animals and fruit trees, with free firewood and fire pits. Facilities are basic but clean. Road noise mentioned, but most loved it and are coming back.

Liked We loved the peace of this campsite; it's like stepping into another world. The small size means there is a lovely calm atmosphere and John and Vanessa are so friendly, welcoming and helpful that you almost feel like part of the family. If you're after an all singing, all dancing site, then this probably isn't for you but, if you fancy camping as it used to be, then you can't go wrong. There is only one shower and toilet, but that never caused any problems and they were always clean and pleasant. The grounds are beautiful and the location is great for days at the coast or visits to towns. There is a bit of noise from the road, but it doesn't take away from the general peace of the site. We had a wonderful time and certainly plan to return.

Disliked There was nothing to dislike.

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked What an amazing place this is. Close to home but feels a million miles away. So peaceful and absolutely beautiful. The most friendly owners we have ever come across in our years of travelling. Nothing is too much trouble. It was incredible to see the animals so closely especially the sheep they were my favourite. There are lots of fruit trees around and vegetables in the garden. The loo was surprisingly good and kept extremely clean. Would definitely use again

Disliked Nothing we loved it here

Liked The camping area is lovely and the rustic build toilet and shower works well. Loved the addition of some flowers.

Disliked The old horse training area was a bit weedy but I understand a work in progress. The road noise a bit loud but didn’t stop me sleeping ! £30 to park up with no EHI v £20 to camp in the field seems a little lopsided to me when further away from facilities and nearer the road.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked Beautiful little farm. The owners are lovely, they provide firewood and burners so you don’t have to take your own. You don’t park near the pitch but they provide a wheelbarrow to take your stuff to the field. The toilets and shower are brilliant, very clean and modern. 10/10 would recommend

Disliked Nothing - would advise, maybe bring earplugs. The traffic does quieten down but starts around 7am I noticed. Not a complaint though as I knew where the farm is situated.

Local attractions

Hull’s 20 minutes away from the park if you’d like some city living to balance out countryside roams; sights to see here include the mighty Humber Bridge towering over the estuary, The Deep aquarium and sealife complex (set in a structure built to look like a ship) and the European paintings at the Ferens Art Gallery. The area around Hull has masses of history too: check it out at Elizabethan manors like the Burton Agnes Hall Elizabethan manor (25 minutes away from the site), the Grade I listed Sewerby Hall and Gardens (35 minutes) with its 50 acres of gardens and the Georgian-era Sledmere House (35 minutes). Go coastal instead at the seaside town of Bridlington with a harbour dating back to before Roman times (25 minutes); the RSPB Bempton Cliffs Seabird Centre are just outside here (about 40 minutes from the park) for busting out the binoculars in the hopes of spotting northern gannets, Atlantic puffins and razorbills.
