General

  • Luxury shepherd's hut; exclusive use of tree-lined, two-acre site
  • 45 minutes to Norfolk Broads National Park and Suffolk Heritage Coast
  • Double bed, heating, microwave, fridge and field kitchen with barbecue

If you like your retreats to come with a bit of luxury and privacy – such treats as heating, a private bathroom and two acres of space to yourself – stop the search and pack your bags for a trip to Primrose Paddock.

At this small, family-run site in rural Suffolk, 10 minutes' drive from Eye, you’ll have exclusive use of a heated shepherd's hut set in its own tree-lined paddock. The owners' aim is to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible, so they've equipped the hut with lots of little home comforts like a double bed with clean linen, a kitchenette (with microwave, kettle, fridge and crockery), mains electricity and USB charging points.

The practicalities continue in the outside field kitchen – the sheltered area has a barbecue, gas cooker and Dutch oven to aid with rustling up home-cooked meals, and there’s a washing-up area too. The shower and loo are in a separate cabin.

With all that to play with, you may choose to spend a good chunk of time chilling out at base – and it would be a wise choice. The surrounding meadow is full of wildflowers and the site is home to lots of wildlife, including woodpeckers, deer and plenty of rabbits. There are hens too, so guests can tuck in to free-range eggs for brekkie.

If you do want to nose around the local area and pick up supplies, Primrose Paddock is close to lots of good places to eat and drink, and there’s a village shop a mile away in Horham.

A really lovely private campsite in rural Suffolk. You basically get a campsite to yourself - own shepherds hut, outside kitchen and bathroom so felt very clean and safe. All crockery and cutlery provided along with bedding and towels in the bathroom - its camping deluxe! Seb and Jayne's house at the bottom of the paddock if you need anything. The weather was very hot when we stayed - Seb brought us up a bag of ice to keep cool. Fast internet access too - perfect for the teenagers! Camp fire in the evening to toast marshmallows - perfect retreat from the "new normal" world.

What an amazing place to stay. We received all the information we needed in advance making it easy to know what to bring. The site was well cared for with the grass mown allowing us to set up the pup tent for the boys. The outdoor kitchen made the experience even better with everything you needed there and set up for the whole family so you really don't need to take anything with except toiletries and clothes. The bathroom was great and everything really clean with fluffy towels to boot. It was good to be able to set up the pup tent close to the gypsy van and away from the fire. We can't recommend this site enough if you want to glamp in your own personal paradise. With owls and bats and a clear night sky to stargaze around the campfire it was like heaven and we will definitely be back.

The set up was incredible in its own little field with a hut with kitchen appliances and a BBQ.
The location is in a perfect set up in the countryside.
Also the couple who rent this shepherds hut out were lovely and so helpful.
We will 100% be returning at least once a year with our dogs.
