  • Peaceful and private glamping site for two in the Norfolk Broads
  • A five-minute drive from Hickling on the Broads and Sea Palling beach
  • Fully-equipped outdoor kitchen and an outdoor bathtub in your camp
Plant yourself down at this pretty place for two, tucked away in the corners of the Norfolk Broads countryside. Camp Saint is a seriously quiet and peaceful retreat and an excellent base for your adventurous crusades in the unique wetland landscape or even the Norfolk coast, which is only five minutes’ drive away. What’s this place, exactly? It’s a small, pop-up glamping camp for two, under the watchful eye over the village church. You’ll be sleeping under canvas in your very own Touareg Tent, picnicking in your own personal English country garden and making up meals in the fully-equipped outdoor kitchen. The ‘camp’ comes with a bathroom with a hot shower and running water, which may come in handy for any sandy feet after a visit to Sea Palling beach, five minutes’ drive away. Those not on cooking duty can take a soak in the outdoor bathtub too – or save it for later in the evening, when the stars come out. Camp Sainte’s on the outskirts of Hickling village, which is home to one of the largest parts of the Norfolk Broads. It has a reputation for being one of the wildest areas too; it’s surrounded by open Broadland countryside with a load of footpaths, including the wild fields where the village ends. Camp Sainte sits here, in a peaceful corner under St. Mary's Church. There are shops in Sea Palling, five minutes’ drive away from the site. For nights when you're not in the mood for cooking, grab a pint and some pub grub from the village pub, 15 minutes’ walk away. More decadent eats can be tracked down at another pub in Ingham, 45 minutes’ walk away. While your own transport is recommended, there are also handy bus stop links to Stalham and Norwich within walking distance of the site. The nearest train station is Hoveton & Wroxham, 20 minutes’ drive away.

Local attractions

Wildlife spotters, skip twiddling your thumbs and head straight for Hickling Broad (10 minutes’ drive), where you might spot the rare Swallowtail butterfly that calls this village home. This area is notoriously flat, so exploring on two wheels is a simple solution for those who’d like to glide past the water, spotting birds and taking in the scenery. Your pedals might lead you down to the coast, where there are sandy stretches at Sea Palling (five minutes) and Waxham beaches such as Horsey Gap (15 minutes). The latter is a favourite spot for breeding seals. A spot of sailing or day boat hire too, perhaps? There’s a boatyard 25 minutes’ walk away for just that. Spots with paddleboard hire or lessons can also be tracked down within 10 to 20 minutes’ drive of the site.
