  • Award-winning, peaceful rural site 15 minutes from Fakenham
  • Pitches and main facilities all wheelchair accessible
  • Half an hour's drive from the beaches of the Norfolk coast
The kilns may be old but the facilities – them’s all set for the 21st century. In fact, The Old Brick Kilns has got things so well sorted it’s even won awards for its offerings. All your everyday needs have been considered by the thoughtful folk at this peaceful rural site: there's a launderette that takes card payments, a tourist info point stacked with handy pointers and first-rate washrooms with underfloor heating. The shop’s shelves are filled with various essentials and treats, and you can call in a day ahead to order warm bread and fresh croissants for a leisurely breakfast. If you’re here at the right time, site staff can sort your evening drinks too: the bar is open on certain nights, with ales and ciders up for grabs. Should you choose to lounge about on site for a bit (as indeed you should…) there are wildflower meadows to skip through and a fishing pond that you’re welcome to dangle your rod into for a small charge. A playground, table tennis and games room are all on hand for the entertainment of small people. This nifty Norfolk location, 15 minutes from Fakenham, has you well placed for all sorts of outings too – beaches, nature reserves and stately homes are all within a half-hour drive. Guests travelling with wheelchairs or buggies will be chuffed to note that this is a pleasingly accessible site, with plenty of ramps and firm pathways to aid manoeuvres around the place.

What customers say

Grand site, spotless facilities, spacious pitches, and a lovely adults-only section. Staff are a decent bunch, and Barney's Bar does the grub well. Peaceful generally, though a bit of a kip with noise and busy facilities now and then. Great for seeing North Norfolk.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch (adults only)

Liked This is a lovely campsite with large pitches. The adult only part is based at the top of the campsite away from the main body of the site, which gave more privacy and a more peaceful setting. The facilities were great, nice hot showers, clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was a lovely dog walk around the site too. We were on pitch number 12 which was lovely as we got the sun in the afternoon, perfect for when you had been out in the morning. We will definitely come again and hopefully get the same pitch! Thank you 😊

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked A great site really well placed to get to lots of what Norfolk has to offer. The amenities are amazing, showers are clean and modern, only 2 sit down toilets in the men's so can get a little crowded first thing. Some restaurants 3 pin sockets near the toilets too.

Disliked No adaptors for the circle camping plugs for a regular 3 pin socket. Not the end of the world, but would have been handy to help us blow up the mattress.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked All the trees were fab
The toilet and shower block and the dish washing facilities were all great. Well appointed and clean.
The nearby walks, we walked every evening and saw a multitude of bats as well as a fox and an owl.

Disliked The Saturday night entertainment on August bank holiday. I'm sure he was a lovely chap but he used a backing track and he sang off key. I wouldn't want to hear that again.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Mostly everything. It was a nice clean site with great showers and toilets. Staff where really friendly and food at Little Barney's was amazing. Also loved the fact we weren't allocated a with for our tent so we could choose which one we wanted.

Disliked The tent electric pitches were layed out weird and they could do with being marked out abit better

Electric hardstanding touring pitch (adults only)

Liked Beautifully kept site. Shower block very clean and well maintained.
Staff consistently emptying bins

Disliked Our only dislike was the gravel pitch was very hard to put pegs in so we had to buy new rock pegs and borrow a metal mallet from someone else who said everyone was borrowing it. Maybe a warning on site to alert people to this beforehand. We have a footprint groundsheet plus carpet and it was very sharp underfoot when not wearing shoes.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked The facilities were lovely! They were clean and modern. The bar was well stoked, the shop had everything you'd need. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was easy to find and well situated for attractions.

Disliked Pre-ordered food from the pub onside before we arrived on the suggestion of the venue. The menu online only showed burgers so that's what we ordered. On arrival we relalised there were more options that weren't online. The menu needs tk be updated.

The campsite was very crowded. We struggled to find a view that didn't look directly at someone else tent.

Local attractions

The good folk of Norfolk know a thing or two about gorgeous coastlines, so it’s highly recommended that you bag a bit of beach time while you’re here: the great sandy swathes at Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham are both about half an hour away by car. With coast comes wildlife, and the places to find creatures around here are the RSPB reserve at Titchwell Marsh (35 minutes’ drive) and the boat trips that leave Morston Quay (20 minutes) to see England’s biggest seal colony, which hangs out on or around Blakeney Point. It’s not all about the coast, however – inland’s got plenty of treats to offer too: give the Queen a wave at Sandringham (half an hour’s drive), wander through 100 acres of fragrant lavender fields in Heacham (35 minutes) and sniff out some history at medieval Walsingham (15 minutes) or the stately homes Blickling Estate and Houghton Hall (both 25 minutes).
