Settle yourselves down here, Shakespeare fans: Dodwell Park is just two miles from Shakespeare’s birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s cottage and all the bardly attractions of Stratford-upon-Avon. There’s peace, there’s quiet, there’s a countryside setting – and if all that still isn’t enough for a final attempt to get the kids (and dog) reading sonnets, you can culture-ise them by taking them along to nearby Warwick Castle for all sorts of horrible history. Sorted. Dodwell Park is a small family-run site where the amenities are kept to spotless standards, with free hot showers, dishwashing facilities and hairdryers to keep the barnet looking tiptop. A shop and off-licence is on site, and armfuls of leaflets are at the information stand with info on Stratford-upon-Avon and other local tourist attractions. Nearby are Cotswold villages with Shakespearely thatched inns, walks and cruises along the River Avon and the hills of the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Boating, fishing and old buildings are at Luddington village about three miles from Dodwell Park. Leaving the car behind to avoid hiking up car parking costs in Stratford? A regular bus service stops right outside the site.

Grand spot for Stratford, with a bus stop right handy. Staff are brilliant and the loos are spotless. Most pitches are grand, though a few are a bit sloped or close. Shop's handy but shuts early. Some bits are a bit old and a few had noise problems.

Liked Very friendly and helpful owners, very good location, quiet site but still early in the season, clean shower block

Disliked Shower block needs updating, very small shower cubicles, only 4 showers and 4 toilets would be really busy in busy months

Liked A friendly welcome awaited us and we were guided to our pitch.
The pitches were generous, though a few were sloping, so take levelling blocks!
The amenities as have been mentioned before, are a little dated, but fully functional and kept spotlessly clean.
The road noise can be a bit off putting if you are a light sleeper, but it never bothered us as it quietens down as the evening goes on.
The shop has limited opening times when we visited, but I assume as the busy season comes around the shop will open longer.
All in all, a very pleasant stay which we would stay again.

Disliked If you want to take the bus into Stratford upon Avon, you have to navigate three lanes on a busy road.

Liked Great warm welcome.
Nice clean and well run site with everything you might need including shop.
Very well located site.
The bonus was bus stops right outside the site entrance so a drive free run into Stratford upon Avon. Excellent.

Liked Lovely quiet and spacious plot that we were on.

Disliked We were on abit of a slope so would definitely recommend to people to bring their ramps as we had forgotten ours. Wasnt a major issue though, After changing direction and some manouvering we managed to feel quite level. Also i dont believe there was any wifi available so take note that you will need your own mobile data.

Many companies offer cruises along the Avon, but to save pennies take a trip on the old chain ferry for 20p, or stay on land and take the mile and a quarter route along the Avon for views of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Shakespeare’s burial place Holy Trinity Church and the Memorial Theatre Gardens. Scores of other walks can be had in the Cotswolds, the biggest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England, with miles’ worth of footpath and bridleways broken up by small villages and market towns. The Cotswold Way runs 102 miles south from Chipping Campden to Bath and passes many historical houses and churches. After Warwick Castle, families can have a day out at the Ragley Hall Estate to get lost in the 3D maze, or go to Kenilworth Castle with its kids' audio trail covering the history of the castle and the lovelorn Robert Dudley who built it in the 16th century to impress Queen Elizabeth I. Kids will probably also like the gizmos at Stratford’s MAD (Mechanical Art and Design) Museum, Hatton Farm Village at Warwick or driving you nuts around the world’s biggest collection of historic British cars at the Heritage Motor Centre, which has the Land Rover Experience, a nature path and a playground.
