Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: What a beautiful site this is. A flat field surrounded by stunning nature. Facilities fabulous. Full bathrooms with shower sink loo. Spotlessly clean. Such a treat to have proper flushing toilets when wild camping. Firepit hire very reasonable @£10 for pit and logs. Perfect for a clear night when dark skies could be properly enjoyed. The welcome was very friendly and it felt very secure with the gate shut. Highly recommended.

Disliked: Nothing.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The hospitality was great, welcomed as we arrived and even a text message prior to our arrival informing us of our pitch. The space is lovely, great views of the hills and perfect for stargazing, never seen so many star’s in my life. Facilities onsite were really good. Showers were lovely, hot water whenever you needed and the facilities were very clean. Everything you need for a peaceful camping trip. Dog friendly and all enclosed to give you a piece of mind, additional bonus of a lovely stream for the dog to play around in the hotter months. Football goals and games for those with families which is a lovely touch. And the fire pits were perfect and reasonably priced (as was the wood). Lots of great amenities near by, shops, local pubs and plenty of fantastic walks (woods and hills, spectacular views etc). Would recommend to anyone considering and will be back again next year. Thanks Runnis Meadow for having us.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: A quiet site even in August. It's great to find a site without all the lights everywhere at night - a campsite like they used to be. Facilities clean and the best campsite showers.

Liked: Toilet and shower facilities excellent Owners are really lovely, very helpful and friendly A beautiful meadow setting, great scenery and areal natural feel Because it is a meadow it is dark and just grass, but that adds to the charm but may not suit everyone

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: The campsite was in an idyllic rural setting with lots of space. The shower and toilet facilities were clean and well looked after. There was also a fridge, which was a huge bonus. The owners had the perfect balance of being available and not intrusive. Having a camp fire was wonderful. Also despite the reviews I had phone network, which helped with route planning. A wonderful stay.

Disliked: Can’t think of anything but I know for some the lack of network was welcomed - for me it would have been inconvenient.

Local attractions

The remains of an Iron Age fort are not the only draw at Roundton Hill National Nature Reserve (15 minutes’ drive). This Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) is also a haven for bats (who roost in disused lead mines), lizards and butterflies, plus birds such as yellowhammers and woodpeckers. Had enough of grilling your own meals? A thriving dining scene awaits in Ludlow (40 minutes). For a small market town, Ludlow has a surprising amount of award-winning restaurants, plus traditional pubs and deli shops selling local specialities. If you visit in September, you might also catch the food festival, which takes place inside the medieval castle. In addition to its castle and cathedral, Shrewsbury (40 minutes) is known for the Quarry, a garden stretching along the River Severn. There is plenty to do here besides admiring colourful flower beds and relaxing on the lawn: National Cycle Route 81 skirts the water, you can hire canoes, or let the kids tire themselves out at the Quarry Splash Park.
