  • Cosy family-run farm site three miles from the edge of the Cotswolds
  • Cotswold Wildlife Park five minutes’ drive; Oxford 40 minutes
  • On-site shop selling fresh produce including local honey; firepits
Cocoon down for a rather cosy stay at West End Farm Camping, three miles from the edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Pitches at this small family-run site are in a grassy plot surrounded by fields grazed by animals or left to grow for hay. West End Farm is a five-minute drive from the town of Burford and the Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens, meaning that you’ll also be well connected to several local attractions. This is a rural location, so the views come in strong – the site looks over the Cotswold hills and the Ridgeway National Trail. Handily, walking and cycling paths are not far away either, and there are lots of routes leading into pretty Cotswold villages and towns. From here though, you’ll be particularly primed to see Burford’s medieval bridge, church and antiques shops, or to potter into Shilton village (10 minutes’ walk) to relax by its ford or to visit its friendly pub. The site has a small shop stocked with meats such as pork and beef, plus eggs, bread and locally produced jams and honey, and there are firepits at each roomy pitch where you can cook your dinner. Other facilities on site include hot-water showers.

What customers say

Cracking, quiet farm site. Spacious pitches, friendly folk. Clean but basic loos. Farm animals are a bonus. Grand spot for exploring, with a good pub nearby. A wee bit of plane noise, and pitches can feel snug when busy.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked A field on a farm with 2 x compost toilets plus 2 x cabins with free hot showers. An outdoor sink for washing dishes and brushing teeth. Stands provided for fires. Free kindle and tinder. Large bag of tinder (perfect for a small fire for toasting marshmallows) available at the shop for £3. Super friendly welcome and lovely text on the morning of arrival to confirm our timings. Drive through the cow shed to get to the field! Kids loved everything about it - we were just back for the second year in a row! Local village lovely with great pub (NB check opening times as not open every day). Kids loved paddling and fishing for tiddlers in the village pond.

Disliked Overnight aircraft noise from nearby RAF Brize Norton.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked The site is an amazing small friendly site with everything you need for a quiet time away. We would love to go back again. We traveled for the Royal International Air Show and being so close to Brize Norton meant we were able to see some of the planes from our camp site.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Really peaceful campsite, really well organised clear pitches and loved seeing the cows!
Easy check in and departure and in a beautiful location.

Disliked The toilets were compost toilets which was fine but they were mixed gender which meant as a girl going in after men there was sometimes wee on the seat - they clearly ignored the sign to sit down. It would have been nice if the bin was also in the toilet rather than outside!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked The large pitches and site as a whole, especially seeing the Cows and Bull going to and fro!
Nice to have Bins on the pitch too.
Celia and Tim are lovely and welcoming and it was good to have a text from Celia the morning of my arrival.
I will be visiting again!

Disliked Not keen on Compost Toilets but i appreciate why they are used.

From my perspective it would be good to have a Chemical Toilet Disposal Point as i need a Toilet in my Tent.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Received a warm welcome from Celia, the site is small and well located next to a cow field. Pitch sizes are generous and well laid out with a fire pit and two bins at each pitch. The compost toilets and showers are clean and well maintained. Lovely rural location with a village pub a short walk away.

Local attractions

Giraffes, lions and primates are just some of the residents at Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens (five minutes’ drive), where a lively programme of events includes feeding sessions, animal encounters and talks. When the kids are all animal-ed out, take them to the park’s Skymaze adventure playground, with treehouses and jungle bridges. On the upper fringes of the North Wessex Downs National Landscape is the Uffington White Horse (40 minutes), an equine figure carved into the side of a chalky hill in the Bronze Age. Other prehistoric remains in the area include the Iron Age Uffingdon Castle hillfort and several Neolithic burial mounds. Besides its famed universities, Oxford (40 minutes) also has the world-class Ashmolean Museum, which displays collections of western and eastern art, plus antiquities and musical instruments. Take a tour of the Bodleian Library, or book yourself on a relaxing cruise on the River Thames.
