What customers say

A well-loved wild camp. Praised for spacious, private spots & peace, perfect for nature fans. Lovely lake & countryside, many return. Basic facilities (portaloos), but unspoilt nature & campfires are a big draw. Access can be tricky for cars, and toilets are limited.

Lakeside non-electric grass and earth tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Location
Lakeside views
Space - very large pitches, and good distance between pitches

Disliked Lack of toilet facilities- stated toilets on site but not over by lakeside pitches.

travelling back down the road to get to lakeside pitches, wasn't aware of that.

Noisy people across the lake up until 4.30am playing music and shouting, policies need to be enforced if stated on pitchup.com
I am all up for people having a good time but it was ridiculous it going on until that time.

-The lakeside camp in the woods
-The pitch was really flat and big enough for our tent and car with space to sit around the fire at the waters edge.
-We got so lucky with the weather and the timing as we watched the full moon rise directly over the lake in front of us
-Wonderful secluded spot for nature immersion
-Am unexpected delight

Local attractions

Belvoir Castle (15 minutes’ drive) may well be your first stop. Built in the early 19th century, it has adventure playgrounds and woodland paths for kids and dogs to run around in, as well as guided tours of the 'big house'. When you’ve had your fill of history, you can replenish energy levels at the restaurants, ice-cream parlours and unusual shops at The Engine Yard retail village. Lovers of old houses might also like to glance over Elizabethan-era Wollaton Hall (40 minutes) and its manicured parkland – they do a spooky ghost tour (one way to make the kids behave) and lots of Tudor-themed events during summer. If you’d prefer to get more active on your holiday, there are plenty of cycling and walking trails – for all levels – all around the campsite. There’s also a riding school (five minutes), a couple of golf courses and a public swimming pool (all 20 minutes).
