Encompassing a 232-acre site in glorious Nottinghamshire countryside, Belvoir Waters is an eco-friendly, off-grid site with one golden rule: be as environmentally thoughtful as possible. And here, you'll be staying among natural woodland, surrounded by three lakes covering 80 acres of water. This is a very peaceful place where couples and families can wander around the lakes and stroll the woodland walks, listening out for some of the 180 bird species spotted in the area. Well-behaved dogs are welcome too. You’ll need to be self-sufficient here as the site is completely off-grid, so it’s best to add in a barbecue as well as bits and bobs for cooking when you’re packing. But don’t worry too much about the packing – anything you’ve forgotten can be picked up in Newark-on-Trent (10 minutes’ drive), which has plenty of supermarkets as well as fish and chip shops or Chinese takeaways. Newark Royal Market (on Wednesdays) has been held in the market square pretty much non-stop since the 12th century, and it’s a special treat to rummage around the stalls for fresh local produce.

不喜欢 It would be good if there was a water point on the site. Just as well we knew to bring our own water.
Price is more than I might have expected to pay.. but I guess the tranquility made it worth it.

喜欢 It's nice and quiet, with lots of different spots to stay, plenty of privacy, and lots of space for a walk with beautiful scenery. It's dog-friendly, and you can swim with boats or your own gear right on site.

喜欢 My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Meg was incredibly helpful and very prompt with responses via WhatsApp. The scenery was beautiful, lots of nature and a good walking area. We took our own water supply, food etc. The portaloo was clean and fellow campers were friendly. I’d highly recommend staying here, we will most definitely be coming back!

喜欢 Loved this site, totally wild with a lot of wildlife. Very peaceful. If like me you were worried about the comment about dog poo, please do not, it is goose and swan poo all vegetable matter! If want want wild camping and wildlife this is the place, saw kingfishers, great crested grebe family and tawny owls, as well as a large family of geese and swans.

不喜欢 Nothing, just perfect please keep this as it is it will only get better as the woods and lakes mature.

喜欢 The view. Swans and ducks. Peace and quiet.
Huge pitches. Good space between pitches.

不喜欢 Quite a lot of old dog poo down on the waters edge could maybe covered up or dug in as in the heat it still smells.

喜欢 Fantastic wild camping site, if you want to get away from the rat race, this place is for you. peaceful and tranquil . A lovely clear lake you can fish ( Rudd, Pike , carp, tench, perch) also take a dip if you need a cool off. there is toilet if you need one other than that make sure you are fully equipped for your stay.

Belvoir Castle (15 minutes’ drive) may well be your first stop. Built in the early 19th century, it has adventure playgrounds and woodland paths for kids and dogs to run around in, as well as guided tours of the 'big house'. When you’ve had your fill of history, you can replenish energy levels at the restaurants, ice-cream parlours and unusual shops at The Engine Yard retail village. Lovers of old houses might also like to glance over Elizabethan-era Wollaton Hall (40 minutes) and its manicured parkland – they do a spooky ghost tour (one way to make the kids behave) and lots of Tudor-themed events during summer. If you’d prefer to get more active on your holiday, there are plenty of cycling and walking trails – for all levels – all around the campsite. There’s also a riding school (five minutes), a couple of golf courses and a public swimming pool (all 20 minutes).
