  • Laidback off-grid Northamptonshire site 10 mins' drive from Daventry
  • Silverstone and Althorp Estate both 20 minutes' drive
  • Easy access from the M1; canal and woodland walks close by
Craving that feeling of being in the middle nowhere, but also kind of keen to be close to local amenities? The answer lies at AllThings Camping, a quiet place that’s tucked away in the Northamptonshire countryside but well placed for lots of handy infrastructure. This off-grid campsite is a nicely laidback place where you'll be staying in a peaceful seven-acre field with simple facilities including a shower and a couple of compost toilets. There’s also a shared mess tent with some basic kitchen kit (including a kettle and some tea and coffee supplies) and seating for those times when you need somewhere weatherproof to relax. Coffee and cakes are available on site during school holidays and the big Silverstone weekend. The vibe here is super chilled, with kids and dogs welcome, plenty of space to relax and a low level of light pollution often leading to some good stargazing. Nearby, you'll be able to walk in the woods or along the canal (five minutes' drive away). Shops, cafés, boat rentals and river swimming spots are also a few minutes' drive away, and there's a Roman fort about a mile away. So far, so rural… but in fact there are plenty of useful facilities nearby, either in the nearby village of Nether Heyford (five minutes' drive) or in bigger towns like Daventry (10 minutes) and Northampton (20 minutes). This site is also very handy for the M1, as it's only about 10 minutes' drive from Junction 15.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked 1st time Libby and her friend and son were amazing, they helped me put my tent up, was our first time and I spent ages trying. Then asked for help which they gladly helped, when it was up, my worries disappeared. Place is clean, quiet and beautiful.

Went a 2nd time this weekend and we had fun, enjoyed our time and we managed to put our tent up without any assistance and it stayed up too. If you want peace and quiet time, this is a place to go.

Next time my extended family asked to go so we will be looking to go again.

Thank you Libby, was good to see you again, until we meet again, take care.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Wonderful off-grid camping in a very beautiful site, with generous pitches, surrounded by fields and woodland. The owner, Libby, was incredibly helpful and friendly on arrival and made it clear that we could contact her easily, should we have needed to. However, she then left us to the peace and quiet of this idyllic spot. The site felt very unspoilt; we counted 7 Red kites circling overhead at one point and, in the late morning, saw Guinea fowl roaming about the field.

There are a couple of nice footpaths right on the doorstep and Libby supplies a really helpful welcome pack upon booking with plenty of tips about local attractions and things to do. There is a well-stocked Tesco Express for shopping about 10 mins away by car and several pubs a short drive away too, including one right on the Grand Union canal. There is a communal tent with tea-making facilities and the sawdust loos are kept very clean (and do not smell at all). There are also two drinking water taps, a washing up sink and a cold shower.

Disliked Nothing. We had such a lovely time here and missed it when we arrived at a busier campsite afterwards.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked So peaceful and the views are amazing. It is an old school campsite with lots of charm and Libby is a friendly and helpful host. The mess tent is a lovely touch and makes a nice space in case it rains.
