Hanworth Country Park: Static caravan sleeping up to 8, with two twin rooms, a double and a sofa bed

General

  • Peaceful, well-kept park with six lakes, walking trails and wildlife
  • A 15-minute drive to Lincoln; half an hour to the Lincolnshire Wolds
  • Café-bar, wifi, play area, takeaway food, fishing and reflexology

Rural roams are firmly on the agenda at Hanworth Country Park, a serene site dotted with pretty paths and six lakes around 15 minutes’ drive from Lincoln.

And angling’s on the cards too – four of the bodies of water here, stocked with mirror carp, common carp, chub, barbel, ide, perch, roach and tench, are open for fishing. There’s also a café-bar to order takeaway food and drink (with a handful of tables if you fancy eating in). Travelling with the tiddlers? Let them roam free in the play area, perhaps under the watchful eye of your other half while you undergo a reflexology session on site.

Animals are also often seen scampering around the park, especially around the lakes and woodland: think buzzards, red kites, woodpeckers and kestrels, as well as brown hares, squirrels, hedgehogs and deer. Attempt to catch a glimpse of these critters while roving along routes through the country park, either on foot or by bike; a favourite trails is the famed Lincolnshire Spires and Steeples path, which runs through the park and ends up at Lincoln Cathedral.

Closer by is the village of Potterhanworth (10 minutes’ walk), a peaceful place with a handful of amenities including a large playing field with a play park, a skateboard park and tennis courts. A pub’s in the centre of the village – handy for evening drinks – and there’s a bus stop plying the Lincoln to Sleaford and Lincoln to Boston routes for explores via public transport.

Surrounding villages such as Metheringham, Branston, Heighington and Washingborough are all within five miles and have conveniences like food shops, inn, takeaways, cafés, butchers and post offices.

Cannot fault the place, it was so quiet and peaceful - not at all crowded, and no real option to be, our lodge overlooked the horseshoe fishing lake with ducks, Moorhens and geese
We had a hare outside our kitchen window, fishing was excellent, husband can't wait to go back and he's not really a fisherman but this place has converted him
The staff were friendly, kept in contact even on check in day calling to say where our keys were (we were arriving quite late ) the lodge was beautifully cleaned and had everything we needed and more
We ate two breakfasts and a dinner at the cafe there - very impressed, the food was fresh and tasty, again staff so friendly and nice

Warden constantly watching us as if we were going to do something wrong. Made us a little uncomfortable. Also told us to move our car from our pitch and put it in the car park because they have an order you have to stick to when pitching up (car, caravan then awning) we wasn’t told this when checking in so put them in the “wrong” order. We were well within our pitch area so didn’t see how this was a problem.

  • Camping pod (double)
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked:

Our stay at Hanworth country park was okay. The pods had a kettle, small bin and a fridge.

We liked that there was a seating option inside and outside.

The pod overlooked a small lake which was a nice view.

The unisex toilets were only a short distance from the pods which were clean.

    Disliked:

We felt like the pods were located too close together, which meant there wasn't any privacy when sitting outside, especially as all 4 pods were occupied. The pictures on the website make the pods look further apart than what they are.

The fridge is a good idea, but it was too small to fit anything in and it wasn't cold.

Only female showers were close to the pods and the males were near reception. We found it odd that women had individual shower blocks and men had a shared shower area. We wondered why the showers were not unisex too.

It would have been nice to have hand sanitiser stations outside the toilet blocks.
