General

  • Peaceful, well-kept park with six lakes, walking trails and wildlife
  • A 15-minute drive to Lincoln; half an hour to the Lincolnshire Wolds
  • Café-bar, wifi, play area, takeaway food, fishing and reflexology

Rural roams are firmly on the agenda at Hanworth Country Park, a serene site dotted with pretty paths and six lakes around 15 minutes’ drive from Lincoln.

And angling’s on the cards too – four of the bodies of water here (stocked with mirror carp, common carp, chub, barbel, ide, perch, roach and tench) are open for fishing. There’s also a café-bar to order takeaway food and drink, with a handful of tables if you fancy eating in. Travelling with the tiddlers? Let them roam free in the play area…perhaps under the watchful eye of your other half while you undergo a reflexology session on site?

Animals are also often seen scampering around the park, especially around the lakes and woodland: think buzzards, red kites, woodpeckers and kestrels, as well as brown hares, squirrels, hedgehogs and deer. Attempt to catch a glimpse of these critters while roving along routes through the country park, either on foot or by bike; a favourite trails is the famed Lincolnshire Spires and Steeples path, which runs through the park and ends up at Lincoln Cathedral.

Closer by is the village of Potterhanworth (10 minutes’ walk), a peaceful place with a handful of amenities including a large playing field with a play park, a skateboard park and tennis courts. A pub’s in the centre of the village – handy for evening drinks – and there’s a bus stop plying the Lincoln to Sleaford and Lincoln to Boston routes for explores via public transport.

Surrounding villages such as Metheringham, Branston, Heighington and Washingborough are all within five miles and have conveniences like food shops, inns, takeaways, cafés, butchers and post offices.

Great pods, excellent site, rural, great getaway!11/03/2020

  • Liked:

Great experience staying at the camping pods at Hanworth Country Park, we've stayed in similar pods:
    Liked;
Rural feel, looking over lakes, woodland
Excellent toilet blocks, no queues, always clean, 4-5 showers, same for toilets
    Good facilities for washing up
Assigned pitches for parking for the pods
Pods where clean, had a kettle and small fridge
Great access to a local pub - 10 min walk, we drove cos it was freezing.
Great under bed storage for all your travel equipment etc
    Bar/Restaurant onsite
Dark - We could see hundreds of stars, maybe other campers would prefer lighted pathways for us it felt more rural and secluded, ie no light pollution and more stars!
Great to have seats and a table outside too.
Friendly staff, left you to it.

    Disliked:

Not dislikes, purely what we recommend that would benefit the pods.
Replace stools with seats with a back.
    Hooks for coats or towel
Heater - it gets cold overnight, it went down to 6 degrees.
Dustpan and brush for the leaves - Autumn leaves so we were picking these up by hand.
Onsite bar should really allow dogs

Not dislikes though, purely to help with the customer experience. These are fantastic pods and a great location.

A gem of a site... The Site is very well maintained, it's clean and well organised . Whilst we were there, COVID / social distancing was adhered to throughout, by the Staff and campers alike. The Staff are a real credit to the facility, all very friendly and helpful. A big shout out to Sam (Site Manager), Ally and Charlie et al in the Bar, who all went out of their way to make our stay a total joy!! Food in the bar is good and reasonably priced and have a good drink selection.

We cant wait to go back

    Disliked:

Not dislikes as such. Would like to see chairs in the shower cubicles and there's no where to put your shower gel/ shampoos during showering (other than the floor). The site is next to a train line so expect trains occasionally.... It's a small price to pay tho.

On our last night Husband was a bit gutted that they ran out of beer - having said that, I reckon he drank most of the keg...So it must have been good!

The staff were really friendly and helpful. Good size of the pitch. Good price.
    Nice ‘cafe’ on site.
My husband enjoyed fishing at the lakes. Nice Wildlife park and Farm park just 20-30 mins away.
Would love to visit the site again.

    Disliked:

It’s not really a dislike but it would be great if the playground was a bit bigger with maybe a slide and swings for smaller children.

Wow, we was very very impressed with our stay here at Hanworth Country Park.
    All facilities was superb.
The pitches was all a very good size and level, all have services which is excellent too
The toilet / shower blocks was brilliant too.
The Brewster's bar was great , only had a drink, but the service we received was great.
So for us its 10 out of 10 from us and yes we will be returning again.
If you love fishing then this is a park for you.

    Disliked:

This is not a dislike but hubby did say that if the Touring Park is full, then there is only 2 male showers which could cause a problem.
