  • Simple site in the middle of the Peak District National Park
  • A 15-minute drive from Bakewell, Castleton and Blue John Cavern
  • Scenic dog-friendly site with village pub five minutes' walk
When it comes to stays in the Peak District National Park, sometimes all you need is a simple and peaceful place to lay your head for the night, with basic facilities but very little to distract you from the gorgeous views all around. (Oh, and maybe a pub within walking distance…) If that's the sort of thing you seek, you’ll likely be most happy with your lot at South View Farm Camping. This is wild-ish camping (in that it’s got a toilet block and running water), spread over roughly four acres and on a very slight incline. As well as having fabulous views over to Bradwell Edge, there’s a gliding club close by, so you may spot some folk taking to the air. As befits a wild-style site, there's a laidback atmosphere in which you'll be allowed to bring a barbecue or light up a campfire, and dogs are welcome as long as they're kept under control and on a lead. There's a sink on site for topping up your drinking water, as well as washing-up sinks and rubbish bins. And that pub? It’s a mere five-minute walk along a footpath to the village of Little Hucklow and a pint of something local in the garden or by the fire (and a meal too, if you like). For more eating options, the local villages of Bradwell and Tideswell are about five minutes' drive away and have pubs, shops and takeaways. Working up an appetite for your dinner should be straightforward here, as you’ll be pretty much right in the centre of the national park with easy access to all the top hikes, activities and attractions.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The view is stunning. Had a chance to watch a beautiful sunrise over the hills. Toilets and washing up area very clean and well equipped. Antibacterial soap, washing up sponges, scourers, kitchen rolls and washing up liquid provided. As we stayed for one night, no showers wasn’t a problem. There is a honesty cupboard with great snacks and some essentials in case someone forgot them. You can rent fire pit and buy logs from the owners. Lonely pub nearby. Great campsite overall, definitely would recommend.

Disliked: Nothing

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Jade was a great host, with great info both before and during our stay. A superb site with great views and peaceful surroundings. Despite bank holiday weekend there was plenty of room and privacy. Amazing clean loos and great washing up area. Honesty box with wonderful eggs and lots of treats (including marshmallows!). Short beautiful walk to the Blind Bull pub. I simply cannot fault this campsite.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The campsite is incredible. Fresh, clean facilities with a 4 cubicle toilet block, 2 sinks and a drinking water tap. Several portaloos dotted around the campsite for easy access to those who choose to pitch up farther away from the facilities.

Jade has been an incredible host. She made a round trip to all campers about 20 minutes after we arrived, introducing herself and giving everyone a 10% drinks voucher to the local pub; The Blind Bull.

She offers very helpful and kind advice and support while also leaving you to just enjoy your stay.

We had decided late in the afternoon that we wanted to hire a firepit for the night. It was so quick and easy to sort this out with Jade; who prompty asked our whereabouts and within the hour, we had a firepit and logs ready at our disposal.

The campsite is easy to access, well kept and large enough to comfortably fit the largest of tents and campers.

We will definitely be back.

Disliked: That we hadn't decided to stay an extra night

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Lovely campsite with nice views and friendly owners. Excellent pub close by.

Disliked: Lots of uneven pitches. We found a flat one one in a corner, but a few hours after pitching up some portaloos were installed a few metres away.
Would be a huge improvement if they installed a shower.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, and glad you had a nice stay. I did apologies about the porter loos and we did offer to move them away for you, they was only there for the bank holidays, I also do state that we are on a slight incline but we have opened more fields up to allow that extra choice for pitches. This is also only our second year open and have upgraded our toilet block for this season. It’s just one step at a time ☺️

Liked: Another wonderful stay at this lovely site. First time this year after four visits last year will definitely be back! The facilities are amazing for a pop up site, with four super clean and well stocked toilets, two washing up sinks and fresh water.
