  • Back to basics Peak District site with a view over Millers Dale
  • A mile to the Monsal Trail; 15 minutes' drive to Buxton and Bakewell
  • Farm shop and café on site; firepits available to hire
Bunk up in a barn at Beltonville Farm for a brill time in the White Peak part of the Peak District – this site’s just a mile from the Monsal Trail and therefore splendidly placed for a strolling, cycling or horse-riding holiday in Derbyshire. When you’re not tottering along this disused railway line transformed into a pretty path, soak up the views over Miller’s Dale; the park is in an elevated position looking out across this Site of Special Scientific Interest’s rock-studded landscape. Chillout sessions are of course boosted by having nosh to chomp on, so drop by the farm shop on site before dusk to pick up bits and bobs such as local veg. The site also has its own café, the Cow Shed Café, which is open every day from 9am. Rather a meander followed by a meal out? Map your way to one of several local pubs within a three-mile radius instead for supper. This is a back to basics site but it's well maintained and stretches to such luxuries as toilets and coin-operated showers for guests’ use (the showers require £1 coins, so please bring them with you). There's also a washing-up area and facilities for people with disabilities. Wood can be purchased at the park for the firepit.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (four person)

Liked Great location, big spacious campsite, good facilities on site and events, great atmosphere, friendly staff.

Disliked Long queues for womens toilets, asusming people getting ready/brushing teeth etc in the cubicles as no other sink facilities nearby, would be better to have a separate sink area so toilets don't get taken up.

poor maintained facilities and very loud music into the early hours

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked -The staff were helpful and friendly.
-The farm shop offered a big selection of food and the cafe was really good and the prices were as you would expect .
-Offered plenty of facilities but came at a cost (and explained in my disliked)

Disliked On paper this looks a really good camp site, the facilities offered at £25 per night seemed good value BUT! The men’s toilets were not kept clean, there was a really bad odour and general dirty so not the best. Also the pot washing station was filthy, mostly due to inconsiderate guests but still wasn’t cleaned by the site. The showers were very busy and always had at least 1 or two people waiting. The main negative was the NOISE!! this place had a live music venue which went on well into the night. It was at least 11:45pm before it stopped but then you had to listen to all the drunk and loud people making there way back and some carried on the party into the early hours. There is supposed to be a 10:30 pm to 6am quiet time and this certainly was not the case. Also the site was very busy which added to the poor hygiene maintenance of the camping facilities.

Great experience! Will definitely return

Non-electric grass tent pitch (four person)

Liked Great site, lots to do, friendly and welcoming staff and environment, spacious plot with a very varied customer base.

Disliked Could have more shower cubicles or maybe a changing block. My partner was queuing for the toilet in the morning because others were using the toilet cubicles as a changing room after the shower.

Fabulous stay, we will come again!

Non-electric grass tent pitch (four person)

Liked Great amenities, fab location and the pub/cafe/shop was very handy as well. Prices were very reasonable when you consider there are no shops close by.
All the staff were really friendly and helpful

Disliked The road into the pitches caused a few wheel spins and I saw people struggle to get up the hill to the pitches because of this. If you are parked next to the road the car churn up dust and you get covered in it.
Please don’t let this deter you though as you can park at the top end of the campsite to avoid this

Liked - The venue, had a nice cafe, bar and shop.
- Had live music events.
- Good location.
- Friendly staff.
- Good showers (paying £4 for 4 minutes meant you weren’t waiting a long time)

Disliked - At the weekends we began noticing that the toilets were get blocked.
- The sinks to wash pots had a really bad water flow.
- The driveway up to the cafe/campsite

We loved this site- it has great amenities such as a cafe…

Non-electric grass tent pitch (four person)

Liked We loved this site- it has great amenities such as a cafe and shop with everything you may need and handmade chocolate. And the live band on the Saturday was perfect for a few drinks and eating pizza in the sun. It was perfect for camping.

Disliked 2 of the 4 showers were flooded on the Saturday but the issue was fixed within a few hours.

Highly recommend. Will back again

Local attractions

Squidged between Bakewell and Buxton (15 minutes’ drive from either), Beltonville has a nifty location near two of Derbyshire’s most popular towns. Make a foray to the former for River Wye wanders, passing by the medieval arched stone bridge, and the latter to see around some stunning architecture. Highlights on the heritage trail around Buxton Spa include the Georgian-era crescent, the Roman baths and the cupola-topped Devonshire Dome; for older buildings, the village of Castleton (25 minutes), lying in the lee of Mam Tor, has the Norman ruins of Peveril Castle to peer at. This spot’s also the gateway to the Blue John caves, the only places on the planet where the semi-precious Blue John stone can be found. Cast your eye over the largest intact piece ever mined on display at Treak Cliff Cavern (25 minutes), which also has some rather sizable stalactites and stalagmites for geologist types to gaze lovingly upon. Those aiming to give their walking boots a good workout here have plenty of choice: it's well located not just for the Monsal Trail and Millers Dale but also Chee Dale, Tideswell Dale and Winnets Pass.
