What customers say
Lovely views and a chilled vibe with plenty of space. Staff are grand, the farm shop, cafe and bar are class, and it's perfect for a wander. Facilities are usually spotless, though some say there are queues and they could do with a spruce-up. The entertainment's a hit, making for a lively but mostly quiet spot. Most folks recommend it and want to come back.

Spacious. Nice views. Good location. Needs charge points and freezer.
Non-electric grass tent pitch (six person)
Liked Quiet spacious site in the week but probably busy at weekends due to music events held in the Cow Shed cafe bar.
Location - 65 bus to Buxton, Monsal trail, nice walks from site.
Disliked No freezer for ice blocks.
No charge points which would be good as no electric hook up.
Data signal is iffy but you can get WiFi in the cafe.

Great views, off grid Bring levelling blocks it does slope in places
Non-electric grass campervan pitch
Liked Laid back campsite, basic off grid. Special events in the cow shed barn are great.
If you are coming & expect all bells & whistles, this is not the campsite for you. If you are coming for a break from it all in a campsite with amazing views & a great no nonsense host, you really should visit.
A genuinely dog friendly site, allowed in all places.
Disliked Nothing to dislike

Great location, let down by overcrowding
Non-electric grass tent pitch (six person)
Liked The stunning location and views
Disliked We arrived Friday lunchtime to a relatively empty field. We went out in the afternoon and came back to tents either side of us, with the guy ropes almost touching ours. Cars parked almost in front of our porch, it felt like we were camping in a car park.
There was an overflow field, but noone seemed to be directed to it. While I love a pitch anywhere site, this was ridiculous and the campsite didn't seem to care about the close proximity of the tents creating a major fire hazard! It also meant we had to try and get our 4 Yr old to sleep, with the tent next door to us loudly swearing with every other word.
Unfortunately, this campsite seems to be the place to go for younger groups who want to party. Cars zoomed around the campsite way too fast, making it unsafe for our son to play out much. There was also a lot of dog poo left around the campsite, which I've never had a problem with on other campsites.
Given how overbooked the campsite was, the staff seemed to be unprepared for it. The toilets were all out of toilet roll in the morning, with no supplies provided until they were cleaned once, later in the day.

Disliked No toilet roll several times, too busy campsite was not taken into account by farm to add extra toilet roll/hand towels. Only 4 toilets and as they are contained units with sink inside, there was often queues. Also they make you book a pitch based on size and charge more, however there are no set pitches so you are not guaranteed space. There were no smaller pitches left so booked bigger one and got no space! Not happy with this as it should be based on what you take if that is the case!

This site has so much potential. Get the basics right ASAP please!
Non-electric grass campervan pitch
Liked Good grassy field for Camping
Quiet good bunch of campers
Location great for hiking
Great onsite bar and farm shop
Friendly, welcoming staff
Showers were pretty good and 4 mins for a pound was enough time.
Disliked Toilets not kept in good condition over the weekend. Mens toilet prefab building too small, difficult for people using the sinks blocking access to the cubicles. Ran out of toilet paper in all cubicles.
Women's toilets not clean and no toilet paper or paper towels.
Showers needed a floor squeegee to help keep clean.
Pot washing facilities not big enough for number of campers. Intermittent hot water supply and pressure terrible. One blocked up sink obviously no one checking.
Gravel path on the way up to the upper campsite bumpy and seen cars losing traction due to pot holes.

Excellent site overall with some lovely people.
Non-electric grass tent pitch (four person)
Liked Views are stunning. Staff are all very friendly. Good selection of drinks. Showers are powerful. Plenty of good walking routes straight from the site.
Disliked The showers are good but £1 for four minutes flies by. Gents toilets are a little run down and can be troublesome to flush. But cleaned regularly. And I managed to get a shower to be fair, potentially being over fussy.

Great site and we'll definitely be returning!
Non-electric grass campervan pitch
Liked Laid back site with good amenities, very clean toilets, showers and a handy wash up area with hot water. Great views from all over the campsite, particularly in the top field. We love that you can choose where to pitch up on arrival and enjoyed watching the cows each evening just infront of our camper. Had a very peaceful couple of nights.
We loved the little onsite cafe which had WiFi, did great coffee and a good breakfast. The little shop within the cafe is great for little bits you might need (milk, eggs etc.) or something different (we got some lovely chili cheese).
Disliked I don't mind paying for showers at all, but felt 4 minutes wasn't quite long enough when you're paying extra to use them. Would make more sense if they were on a "token" system. Eg. Each camper can have a token to use the shower, but can buy more for a longer shower? Other than that, the site is perfect.

Great site. Well located and quiet. I'll go back again
Non-electric grass tent pitch (six person)
Liked Choice of two fields. The lower was a bit more sheltered, and closer to the site's amenities, but the upper was more spacious and had the better views. Plenty of toilets and showers and all were cleaned regularly. Good shop and cafe / bar on site. Great location - brilliant for walking or cycling. Loved watching the housemartins flit across the field of an evening
Disliked Non-existent recycling facilities. That miffed me, to be honest. Cafe & shop shut too early on summer weekday evenings. 5pm is not long enough
