  • Off-grid, naturist-friendly site with direct access to a sandy beach
  • A 25-minute drive from Elche and 35 minutes from Alicante
  • Dogs and families welcome; a short walk to restaurants and a shop
Take things off grid and put down roots in a field of fruit trees just a few hundred metres from a quiet sandy strip lined with pines and dunes. Los Limoneros is a beachside, naturist-friendly spot designed for those who want a natural, off-grid getaway with plenty of wildlife and a commitment to permaculture, agroforestry and sustainability. Thoroughly off-grid and eco conscious, the site has no water, no electricity and no toilet, so you’ll need to sort yourself out on those fronts. The wildlife haven faces a pine forest, and through the pines, a private, 300-metre trail leads to the Playa de El Pinet beach - very peaceful, indeed. All the proceeds here go to the agricultural and ecological restoration of the site, helping with planting and recovering trees and supporting an irrigation system. So, green-fingered guests should feel right at home. Dogs are welcome, as are families, and there’s plenty to like about the location (aside from the fact that it’s positioned several hundred metres from the sea). Cities like Elche (25 minutes’ drive) and Alicante (35 minutes) make for lively side quests, while wildlife fans can head out to wetland reserves, pink lagoons and nature reserves within around 25 minutes’ drive of the site. Playa de la Marina (25 minutes’ walk) is another option for beach days. As for pizza and other tasty eats, just stroll 10 minutes’ walk from the site, where there’s a strip of restaurants and a small food shop. Please note that the site requests that guests park on the main road during rain because the mud can clog vehicles’ wheels.

Local attractions

There are some splendid places indeed, just a short drive from Los Limoneros. Spy on the native flamingos who have claimed the salt flats and pools at Salinas Santa Pola (10 minutes’ drive) as their home. Then, schedule yourself a boat ride to Tabarca Island (15 minutes’ drive to Santa Pola and 15 minutes’ boat ride) to snorkel and take in the views from the lighthouse. The pretty, pink Laguna Rosa (25 minutes) is yet another gorgeous view. However, if you’re looking to liven things up with a visit to the city, perhaps you’ll be interested in the hundreds of thousands of palm trees around Elche (25 minutes). With an Old Town, church and palm grove museum, there’s plenty to keep you occupied. Of course, Alicante (35 minutes) is another splendid option, especially for those who’d like to spend their days sailing, climbing to the medieval castle or taking more swims in the Med.

Primitive earth travel trailer campsite

Liked: Hammock

Disliked: Where do I begin, no toilet, no water, hippie playing music till 01.00 am, nobody on site for safety reasons, rats running around. Loved the rabbits, bottles of urine , no designated toilet area, no response via telephone only by WhatsApp. Site rules not clear until he came to tell us and left. No grass pitch as advertised, more like scorched earth which was very uncomfortable to sleep on. All the stones lying around which gave a witchcraft type of feel a la Blair witch project. No security, next to the woods and anyone could come and go into the camp. Do Not take kids as it's more of an adults only hippie camp . There's a big house nearby which we thought belonged to the campsite but didn't. The house had a clear view of the camp and didn't add to the security. No water, not allowed to cook or make a camp fire. You would need to eat before you got there. Only recommend for one night nothing more. Money tin in a tree for tips?? ( What are we tipping for exactly) none of it was eco friendly, there was a compost heap but no biodegradable toilet paper??? There was a heap next to the entrance under a tarp looking like a dead body which added to the weird hippie, witchcraft atmosphere. Really I would have been happy paying 5 euros to which is way more reasonable and would get more people as it's a novelty one off to say you've done it. No WiFi, Considering for 5/6 euros more elsewhere you had a swimming pool, showers, water, electric, bars, security, everything else which this place didn't have. If I was homeless and it was my only option if turn it down. Only really safe to get small car or little short wheel base van, nothing bigger as you'd struggle getting down the lane and turning in. Any large campervan, motorhome or caravan forget it... Other than that it was an experience. Thanks for letting us use an empty field which we could have done for free anywhere. An experience we won't forget. Try at your peril. Regards . Considering we're in 2022 this was like a throwback to the 60s.

From the manager: This person was very unpolite when they arrive, they came without reading the rules of the site. They was taking private things from the garden, destroying some plants, and shitting in a place that was not allowed. The only thing that was true that the place hace no grass, that I corrected in pitchup This persons should not be welcomed in places in contact with nature.
